Travel guides
Let us introduce you to what is perhaps the most romantic stretch of Latin America.
Torres del Paine National Park deserves its reputation as the jewel in Patagonia’s crown.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
This luxury itinerary lets you explore Patagonia's most extraordinary landscapes while spending your money with the people and places that make the region so special.Visits to protected areas such as Tierra del Fuego National Park and Torres del Paine National Park include park entry fees, which help fund the running of the parks. Most activities are on foot, such as walking tours and hikes. Excursions run in small groups, which means fewer vehicles on the road and less pressure on busy sites.
Throughout the trip, local guides explain the landscapes and wildlife you're seeing and share practical tips on how to reduce your impact while you're there. On the trails, that means taking all rubbish out, sticking to marked paths and keeping a respectful distance from wildlife.
Your accommodation includes:
Tierra Patagonia, built from local lenga wood and designed to sit low in the landscape.
Los Cauquenes, a hotel on the shores of the Beagle Channel.
Australis, a small expedition ship, where guides lead educational talks on board and shore excursions follow national park rules.
People
People are at the heart of everything we do. Every year, our local partners train guides in safety, service, local knowledge and responsible travel. Hikes, boat trips and wildlife watching are led by certified local guides, which means skilled work for residents and cultural knowledge passed on.We've chosen hotels and lodges that take part in local culture and community life. For example:
Legado Mítico introduces guests to Argentine culture through its themed design, which celebrates iconic figures such as Eva Perón and Jorge Luis Borges. It has no restaurant and is within easy reach of plenty of places to eat, so guests head out and explore the neighbourhood.
Los Cauquenes uses local materials in its design, employs staff from the local community and buys fresh produce from the area, keeping money within the region.
Tierra Patagonia employs staff from the local region, buys local produce and celebrates Patagonia's heritage in its interior design. It also runs excursions that share local customs and traditions with guests. The Hunters Trail, for example, explores the Indigenous Aonikenk culture, a vital part of Patagonia's heritage, while a horse ride with local Chilean gauchos gives a real taste of Patagonian life.
