Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONAll transportation throughout the itinerary is done by electric car with no direct CO2 emissions. When charging the car the electricuty used comes from green Norwegian energy as most energy comes from natural resources like hydropower from our many waterfalls and waters.
Breakfast buffets always have vegetarian and vegans options available and clearly marked. Restaurants always have vegetarian and vegan options on the menu.
The itinerary is based on only by driving electric car between the destinations, and only international flight to/from the country is necessary.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Each year we donate a precentage of the company surplus to a charity organisation who either helps people or the environment. Last year we donated to an NGO organisation cleaning plastic and litter from beaches and coast lines.
We have not considered adding an opt out conservation fee to each trip for named NGO as we feel adding and opt out conservation fee is not right as it puts an extra economic burden on the traveller already paying for the trip, and we feel giving something back from the company surplus is an overall better solution.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYThe accommodations throughout the itinierary are based on smaller-scale places with a more home feel and the hotels are locally owned. The hotel in Bodø is chain owned but it is a Scandinavian chain with high focus on sustainability known for their family friendly atmosphere.
We try to select destination that is not receiving the highest amount of travellers and has a local feel, like Veserålen and Senja, which are also easily available by driving. Lofoten is recieving a high number of visitors in summer season with traffic and parking problems and also a high pressure on popular viewpoints and attractions. Vesterålen offers much of the same characteristic but with less people. Senja is recieving a higher number of visitors but still far from what you would expereince in Lofoten. Within the destination, we also seek to use local small-scale operators with a focus on sustainability delivering a more authentic experience and also benefiting the local economy.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
Norways is a very liberal country in general with high equal rights to race, gender, sexual orientation or nationality. All travellers like for example LGBT+ travellers are welcome everywhere.
