CARBON REDUCTION

This self-guided cycling tour in Marche by e-bike takes guests along the Adriatic coast and inland towards Urbino, with guests cycling between 31-42km per day. It is, by its very nature, slow and sustainable, enabling them to explore the region in a way that produces zero carbon emissions - by bike. We offer e-bikes on this tour, encouraging people who are less experienced cyclists to travel the eco way, making sustainable tourism even more accessible.

With all of our tours, we encourage our guests to travel to and around Italy using buses and trains whenever possible. Although luggage is transferred by a local provider during the holiday and transfers are included on day three between Pesaro, Gole del Furlo and the accommodation near Urbino, guests explore the main cycling routes by bike, supported by detailed digital route notes, maps and GPS tracks.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

This cycling tour takes guests through some of Marche’s most distinctive scenery, from the coastal trails of San Bartolo Natural Park and the cliffs of Fiorenzuola di Focara to the inland landscapes of Gole del Furlo and the Candigliano River, framed by Monte Pietralata and Monte Paganuccio. The route blends seaside cycling with trails through traditional villages and the region’s rural heartland.
We remind guests to practise Leave No Trace throughout their trip, especially when cycling through natural spaces such as San Bartolo Natural Park and Gole del Furlo.
With regards to drinking water, we ask guests to bring refillable water bottles as well as a reusable shopping bag to avoid single-use plastic during their trip. We also ask guests to take any packaging away with them and be mindful of not dropping litter.
We have an in-house responsible tourism expert, who shares tips and advice with our guests in trip notes, blogs and newsletters. For example, on how to reduce their impact on the environment and wildlife, support responsible travel practices and respect the places and communities they pass through.

LOCAL ECONOMY

Accommodation on this tour is based in two places: a seaside hotel in Pesaro and a country house in the countryside near Urbino. They have been carefully selected based on a variety of criteria including their location, warm hospitality, fine local food and connection to the area.
Only breakfast is included on this cycling tour, and guests are encouraged to buy lunches and snacks in local shops, or pre-order packed lunches from their accommodation where needed. Dinners are available either through the accommodation or in restaurants in the local area, meaning tourism spend supports local businesses, hosts and families in Pesaro, Urbino and the surrounding villages.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

All of our partners in Italy are locally employed and play an important role in contributing to the local economy. At home, we have a strict policy to pay all our own employees and team members a living wage and fair wage, with holiday entitlement. In the hiring process, we prioritise experience, qualifications and passion, emphasising that race, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality are not factors of consideration. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace based on skills and expertise. We also endeavour to support any guests with visible and non-visible disabilities or any special requirements, when possible.
