CARBON REDUCTIONThis self-guided cycling tour in Umbria follows the Cammino dei Borghi Silenti by e-bike, covering around 82km on a circuit from Tenaglie, near Orvieto. It is, by its very nature, slow and sustainable, with guests cycling between 23-33km per day, enabling them to explore the territory in a way that produces zero carbon emissions - by bike. We offer e-bikes on this tour, making this rural route more accessible.
With all of our tours, we encourage our guests to travel to and around Italy using buses and trains whenever possible. On this tour, private transfers are included between Orvieto and Tenaglie at the start and end of the cycling route, while guests complete the Cammino itself by bike. Daily luggage transfers are also provided by a local provider.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
This cycling tour takes guests through some of Umbria’s rural landscapes, following woodland paths and country trails around Monte Croce di Serra, the highest point of the Amerini mountains. The route also passes through the Gorges of Forello, around Lake Corbara, and through landscapes of olive groves and vineyards.
The Cammino dei Borghi Silenti was created around a network of walking and biking routes linking small villages and rural areas.
We remind guests to practise Leave No Trace throughout their trip, especially when cycling through woodland, farmland and quiet villages.
With regards to drinking water, we ask guests to bring refillable water bottles as well as a reusable shopping bag to avoid single-use plastic during their trip. We also ask guests to take any packaging away with them and be mindful of not dropping litter.
We have an in-house responsible tourism expert, who shares tips and advice with our guests in trip notes, blogs and newsletters. For example, on how to reduce their impact on the environment and wildlife, support responsible travel practices and respect the places and communities they pass through.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYAccommodation on this tour includes a mix of small, locally-owned hotels, B&Bs and agriturismos. They have been carefully selected based on a variety of criteria including their location, warm hospitality and fine local food.
The itinerary takes guests through small villages such as Tenaglie, Morre, Civitella del Lago and Montecchio, helping tourism spend reach local businesses and hosts along the route.
Guests collect their Cammino credential in Tenaglie and can gather stamps from designated establishments along the way.
The route also passes local wineries near Lake Corbara, where guests have the opportunity to stop for tastings, supporting producers in the area.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace based on skills and expertise. We also endeavour to support any guests with visible and non-visible disabilities or any special requirements, when possible.
