Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONWe are committed to offering low-impact holidays, which benefit the countries and communities we visit, as well as our travellers and the natural environment. We believe in the transformative power of travel and aim to minimise our ecological footprint by selecting eco-friendly accommodations, encouraging waste reduction, and supporting sustainable transportation options where possible.
Walking is at the heart of this Andorra holiday, allowing you to explore the region's spectacular landscapes on foot rather than relying on transport between attractions. The itinerary also makes use of mountain lifts to access higher trails, helping you spend more time enjoying the mountains while reducing the need for long vehicle journeys to reach the walking routes.
Your accommodation, Hotel Himàlaia Soldeu, has a range of sustainability measures in place, including energy and water-saving initiatives, recycling, food-waste reduction and responsible purchasing, with locally sourced food and drink also featured. The hotel’s restaurant offers vegetarian and vegan options, providing plenty of choice for guests with different dietary preferences.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy in national parks, archaeological sites, monuments, and other sensitive areas like beaches and coastlines; these should be treated with the ultimate respect to maintain them for future generations. Our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to our customers during the trip.
This walking trip offers an immersive way to experience Andorra’s natural environment, from flower-filled alpine meadows and tranquil woodland paths to crystal-clear lakes and secluded valleys. Following established mountain trails allows us to explore these beautiful landscapes while keeping the focus firmly on the natural environment. Along the way, we will have opportunities to spot local wildlife, including marmots around the Pessons lakes, while the visit to the protected Vall del Madriu offers us a chance to experience one of the Pyrenees’ most remarkable natural and cultural landscapes.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYWe provide ample opportunities to explore the local area on foot, where you can shop for local wares and crafts and immerse yourselves in the destination's cultural heritage. To enhance your experience, your tour leader will be joined by a knowledgeable, well-qualified local guide for the duration of the trip. Along the way, you'll explore local markets, cafés, vineyards, and family-run restaurants, helping to support the local economy.
Walking through Andorra’s valleys and traditional mountain landscapes provides us with an opportunity to experience the country beyond its main tourist centres. The itinerary passes through traditional villages, historic paths and pastoral landscapes, while local bars, accommodation, transport and other services form an important part of the holiday experience. Spending time in these communities helps support local businesses and allows visitors to connect more closely with Andorra’s mountain heritage and way of life.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY
We are committed to responsible and sustainable travel practices that support both the local environment and surrounding communities. By selecting environmentally conscious accommodation, encouraging reduced waste, and prioritising sustainable transport where possible, we aim to minimise our footprint. Through respectful engagement and conscious travel choices, we strive to protect natural landscapes while delivering enriching and memorable experiences.
Our walking tours are thoughtfully designed to immerse guests in local heritage and culture, building meaningful connections with the places and people we visit - including the employment of local tour guides. As a company, we believe in workplace diversity and equal employment, with opportunities available to everybody regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or nationality.
