Guyana holidays, highlights tour

Description of Guyana holidays, highlights tour
This two week small group holiday in Guyana features all of the ‘must see’ highlights alongside many of the country’s lesser-known cultural and natural settings including a chance to stay with a local community and book into a lodge situated on the site of a giant otter rehabilitation centre.
Guyana, thankfully, has remained untouched by tourist hordes and provides a unique opportunity for travellers looking to experience South America as it once was, with wildlife watching tours, easy going walking trails and optional horse riding trips providing insight from all angles.
Local guides ensure nothing is left to chance when it comes to understanding the importance of Guyana’s cultural heritage and most revered natural highlights and there’s nothing that beats a hike in the jungle as you go in search of the tallest single drop waterfall on the planet, Kaieteur Falls.
Aside from guiding you over jungle trails, guides will also explain more about what might be appearing either side of the path, and the first time you catch a glimpse of an anteater or tapir in its natural environment will be one of those Guyana moments that you’ll never want to forget.

Responsible Travel
Planet and people
We operate ecologically sensitive tourism through responsible behaviour towards the environment. We provide the maximum benefit to the local communities by involving them in all activities. On our treks we use locally produced fresh produce, buying from villages where possible. In preference we choose local over imported goods. We pack out all non-organic waste and minimize this by using products with minimum packaging, leaving no litter and keeping all water sources clean, leaving camp-sites cleaner than we find them. We bury organic waste at a suitable depth.
When out on tour we encourage learning about Guyana, the local culture of the teams we work with and the areas we pass through. Our guides hold informal talks with groups to inform about and discuss with them all aspects of local life. This helps understanding of the area and appreciation of the people who live there.
We are also now supporting the UK registered chairty Amantani. As this charity is very much in keeping with our ethos of small scale, targetted help which is educational & sustainabale. HuchuyYachaq is the other main Peruvian charity we support by paying a for a full time teacher. A % of all our income goes to support those projects.
