Cheese, bread and wine-fuelled walks, gite to gite, or chateau to chateau, in France's spectacular landscapes.
Corsica
Corsica is one of France's greatest surprises – a wild outpost with an independent spirit that runs deep.

Holiday information

Small group tour, ideal for solos & couples:
Small group travel is not large group travel scaled down. It is modeled on independent travel – but with the advantage of a group leader to take care of the itinerary, accommodation and tickets, and help with the language. It’s easy to tick off the big sights independently – but finding those one-off experiences, local festivals, travelling markets and secret viewpoints is almost impossible for someone without the insider knowledge gained from years in the field. For those with limited time, a small group tour will save valuable time in planning, and on holiday.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

A truly glorious introduction to Corsica's valleys & mountains led by a' Maquis' with knowledge, enthusiasm, sensitivity & humour.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Dont expect much down time! Be up front about your level of fitness. Take insect repellent. local Bar des Amies is not a late night venue nor is the hotel Beau Sejour. Massage needs to be in-group as there is no place in village. There were rumours of a masseuse with a camionette in the square but..

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The local bar, restaurants & boulangerie benefited. Some locals were 'entertained' by some of our idiosyncractic french language!

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Magnifique!

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

CARBON REDUCTION

From Calenzana to Conca in its traditional form, or from south to north from Bavella to Bonifatu, set off on the GR20 without any organizational worries for a complete crossing of the island.

As a challenging wilderness walking expedition, walking the GR20 is naturally low carbon, as we go everywhere as a group, on foot. Any transport included, is shared transport, usually in a mini van.

All nights accommodation take place in mountain refuges (or similar) which have little or no electricity or water, so 'natural' measures are taken.

Vegetarian options are available on the trip, however we cannot cater to vegans, due to the difficulty of obtaining supplies in such remote locations (which would need to be flow in by helicopter, so not sustainable).

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

As we walk along our route (much of it protected national parkland), we talk to our guests about the local endemic flora and fauna, observable along the way. We walk with the idea of leaving as little trace as possible and having the least impact possible on the environment we are so lucky to explore.

Of course, we take all litter with us or dispose of accordingly.
