Description of Vietnam adventure holiday

This Vietnam adventure holiday takes you from south to north to discover a vibrant mix of different landscapes and people. You’ll start in Ho Chi Minh City, home to modern skyscrapers, busy local markets, elegant French colonial architecture and stark reminders of the Vietnam War. From here you’ll take a day trip to the Chu Chi tunnels, a former Viet Cong stronghold, as well as visit the Mekong Delta, where you’ll explore the canals by boat and spend a night with the locals in a simple homestay.

A night on a sleeper train is next to the agenda and is a great opportunity to gain insight into local life. You’ll disembark in the beachside city of Nha Trang for a couple of days swimming, snorkelling and relaxing on the beach. Then it’s on to Hoi An, a beautiful and historic city that was once a major trading port with the West, followed by Hue, Vietnam’s former imperial capital. The stunning emerald waters of Halong Bay will be the next stop, where you’ll get the chance to spend the night on a sailing junk. Finish your trip in the beguiling tree-lined capital of Hanoi.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

The very ethos of our style of travel is responsible; small groups on fully escorted tours, experiencing the very best of a region, a culture and a landscape, with a friendly local hand guiding the way. Our itineraries are designed to give our travellers real life experiences without compromising the part of the world through which we are journeying, this is our commitment as a global tour operator.

As a company, our responsibilities don’t stop when our tours end. We run and support a variety of projects globally, from healthcare, education, human rights, child welfare, sustainable development and environmental and wildlife protection. Our own in house foundation has been in operation for over 11 years; a not-for-profit fund that has distributed over AU$3 million to more than 70 non-government organisations since 2002. Donations come from our travellers and are then matched by us dollar for dollar.

People

This trip introduces travellers to the wonderful country of Vietnam, taking in all the highlights with the added comfort of superior hotels. In true style there are also plenty of opportunities to interact with the locals and learn about their way of life.

In the southern Mekong Delta region the group stays overnight with a local family. This is a unique experience that allows travellers to experience the local culture first-hand. There's a visit to local cottage industries where travellers can purchase locally made goods, thereby supporting the communities. There is also a visit to a snake farm to learn about this wildlife.

In Hanoi the itinerary includes a performance of the famous Water Puppets. Nearby Halong Bay is also a major highlight with beautiful natural scenery.

The north west highlands allow full appreciation of Vietnam's stunning natural landscape as the group walks through the local countryside. One night is spent in a White Thai village house on stilts - a very special experience that affords observation of the local lifestyle of these minority people.
