Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
This walking holiday includes the 3 must-do walks on the beautiful and remote Flinders Island an we really advocate for exploring without leaving a trace of our presence. We love to promote a slower style of travel, travelling in small groups (up to 16 people), staying in locally owned and run Flinders Island Farms, and eating only local produce, reduces carbon footprint and our general impact we're visiting. Any transport is shared by the group, reducing our impact as we travel around the island. When you travel with us you will be helping to reduce rubbish and pollution from our country, land, sea and waterways. We educate our clients about the natural and cultural environment in an entertaining and enjoyable way, promote minimal impact walking, as well as encouraging everyone to carry out their rubbish and pick up any rubbish left by others along the route.
We realise that water is such a precious commodity. We encourage recycling where it is practical and make sure our clients know how precious it is and we encourage them not to not waste it. In our office we recycle our water as well as all waste products. All guests are given with a recyclable silicon container, insulated bag and eco friendly spork.
We have a self sufficient solar electricity system that produces more power than we need, putting green power back into the grid. We encourage be green, read on the screen so as to reduce paper. This overall helps to save the trees thus helping the environment. In the office everything is recycled from, plastics to ink cartridges.
People
We stay at a locally owned accommodation at Mountain Seas Lodge which features both mountain and ocean views and is nestled at the foot of Mount Strzelecki. The accommodation also supports advanced eco tourism and is well known for its rugged nature and wilderness, abundant wildlife, pristine vistas, and the cleanest air and water in the world. They aim to preserve wildlife and nature so that the future generations can still benefit from it's beauty. We incorporate quality local tourism experiences into our walking holidays. Our tourism experiences include the Walkers Lookout accompanied with the locals and and challenging ascents of Mt Strzelecki, Mt Killiekrankie and Mt Kosciuszko.
We eat at local restaurants which cook nutritious and wholesome meals using locally grown products whenever possible and freshly caught local seafood upon request. These restaurants are managed and employed by local staffs.
We support local adventures that help create a better environment so that we can preserve and protect our natural environment and the wildlife that exists within it.
