Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Although the water in Sardinia is safe to drink for our customers, we offer customers the opportunity to purchase a water filter bottle, at a discounted price, which combines three different technologies to remove over 99.9% of all microbiological contaminants in water. This prevents the need for single use plastic bottles. We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy on our activity days to help maintain the land for future generations. Our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to our customers whilst on this trip. Lunches can be purchased from local markets and general stores, and you are encouraged to bring a Tupperware container and cutlery to avoid using plastic bags and utensils.
While on walks we insist on sticking to the trails to avoid upsetting the delicate balance for plants and animals, as well as not feeding wildlife as they become reliant on tourists, plus maintaining a safe and respectful distance from wildlife.
We are committed to offering low impact holidays that benefit the country and communities we visit. Given most of the time is spent exploring on foot, it is important that our staff, local partners and customers are aware of the delicate balance which exists in the places we visit and leave no trace. This tour operates outside the main tourist season, away from the main resorts, and a sourcing Sardinian owned hotel, local restaurants, and guides.
People
This tour operates during the quieter season in Sardinia and in areas typically away from the bigger tourist centres. It helps to extend the season on the island, which brings in further income for the locals. We work with a local guide, who has his own company and helps visitors explore the island in a natural way – on foot. Our guide walks with us every day, not only showing us the best trails and ensuring we stay on the tracks, but also sharing his knowledge and passion for the island. He will show us the small markets and tucked away cafes
On this tour, we stay in a small family owned, characterful property who, during the off-season months, can struggle to fill rooms, which we can help with. In addition, we eat at a mix of different restaurants each evening, ensuring locally sourced produce and making sure the local community benefits from us visiting the island.
