Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Four countries viz Nepal, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka are covered during the trip. In all the countries, we make sure that the vehicles that are assigned to your tour are according to the norms laid by the Ministry of Environment of respective countries. The vehicles are serviced at regular intervals of time along with the emission checks done. This process ensures a minimum impact of vehicle pollution on Environment. We support the hotels that have taken serious action regarding the conservation of water resources. We utilise the services of hotels that have taken initiatives and upgraded their water-efficient equipment and have placed administrative controls in the place. We also support those hotels who have minimalized the freshwater withdrawals with the help of their upgraded water-efficient equipment and rainwater harvesting so that the natural water resources can be preserved and utilized more and more by the society. Hotels like Le Meridien Thimphu, Aman Hotels, Taj Hotels and other smaller boutique hotels are sensitive towards the environment and only such hotels are given a preference.
In Bhutan, the government charges a Sustainable Development Fee which is already included in the price quoted as a part of High Value and Low Impact policy. This fee contributes to the social welfare of Bhutanese citizens and Environment. This way by visiting Bhutan, you make sure that the local citizens are benefitted through the tourism fee.
In India and Sri Lanka, we ensure that the visit to Elephant sanctuaries where Elephants are not treated well are not included as a part of trip. In Jaipur, we do not encourage an Elephant Ride at Amber Fort and in Sri Lanka, we do not encourage a visit to Pinnawala Orphanage.
People
As the guests are covering 4 countries in this trip, there will be different customs and traditions that they will experience in various countries. In order to gain better understanding of all cultures and make their trip comfortable, we share a document highlighting dressing code, what to expect, language, customs, weather and other details before the trip.We select the best local guides and through our local partners offer constant feedback & training for improvement in services. All the guides are local during our trips. Having local guides offer best of both worlds i.e. great local knowledge and employment opportunity.
In order to promote local arts, our local guides may suggest various shops where the guests can see how these art forms are made. Such visits are arranged only after consultation and consent from the guests. The guests can buy local souvenirs which will result in income opportunities for local artisans.
We promote local tours such as cooking class in Bhutan, tea plantation visits in Sri Lanka, heritage walks in India, village walks in Agra, hikes to monasteries in Bhutan. Such tours not only offer authentic experiences to guests but result in local tourism community benefits.
