Following one of Europe's great pilgrimage routes, this self-guided Camino journey combines stretches of the Portuguese Coastal and Central ways before culminating in Santiago de Compostela. Walking from Baiona through Galicia, you'll explore estuaries, fishing towns, forests and historic cities at a pace that encourages a genuine connection with the landscape.
Days on the trail link Baiona, Vigo, Redondela, Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis and Padron. The route follows the Vigo estuary, passes beaches and woodland, visits attractive old towns and winds through vineyards, fields and river valleys before the final approach to Santiago.
There is plenty of cultural interest along the way, from oyster-producing Arcade to the medieval streets of Pontevedra and the pilgrimage heritage of Padron. Each stage ends with the chance to sample Galician cuisine and relax in welcoming, pre-booked accommodation while your luggage is transferred ahead. Full support, including detailed route maps, is of course provided.

CARBON REDUCTIONThis eight day walking holiday along the Portuguese section of the Camino de Santiago is, by its very nature, slow and sustainable. It focuses on human-powered transport with guests walking 18-25km per day, enabling them to complete the route in a way that produces the least amount of carbon emissions possible - by foot.
We offer advice for our guests who might like to travel to and from the start and end point of this holiday by bus or train. As well as travelling overland by rail to other destinations from Santiago de Compostela.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Trails on this holiday have been way-marked and are regularly maintained; an important measure taken in order to prevent people from straying from the intended routes, therefore reducing any damage to the immediate surroundings of the trails. We also always advise our guests to not stroll from the marked way for this reason.
Although we do have tours during peak season ( May-September), this holiday is available from March to November. This means that guests can support the local economy for three seasons of the year and, at the same time, we are also trying and encourage walkers to keep their impact as low as possible on the environment during busy times.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYAccommodation on this tour includes small, locally-owned and family-run hotels. They have been carefully selected based on a variety of criteria including their location, warm hospitality, good local food or commitment to responsible tourism.
Only breakfast is included on this walking holiday and so we encourage our guests to buy lunches and snacks in local shops, and also recommend small, local eateries en route, or the accommodation provider will also provide dinner if requested. All contributing to the local food economy.
