The itinerary uses one main flight connection between Cairo and Accra, with the rest of the journey taking place by road. Throughout the tour, travelers travel together in shared vehicles. There are also opportunities to explore destinations on foot, including historic areas in Elmina and Cape Coast and the canopy walkway at Kakum National Park.

We use accommodations including Conrad Cairo, The Pelican Hotel and Lemon Beach Resort. Where information is available from our accommodation partners, we encourage the use of practices such as energy efficiency, water conservation and waste reduction.

In Ghana, many meals are prepared using locally sourced produce purchased from Ghanaian farmers and markets.

We encourage travelers to reduce unnecessary plastic use and to be mindful of their energy and water use during their stay.

Environment and Wildlife:

Entrance fees for Kakum National Park are paid to the organisation responsible for managing the park. The canopy walkway provides an opportunity for visitors to experience the rainforest from above while following the park's visitor guidelines.

Our guides provide practical advice on visiting natural areas, including following designated routes, avoiding litter and respecting wildlife. Local guides also provide information about the ecosystems and natural environments encountered during the tour.

We use locally owned accommodation and businesses where possible, including The Pelican Hotel and Lemon Beach Resort in Ghana.

Visits to places such as the Accra Arts Centre give travelers opportunities to meet local artisans and purchase locally made arts, crafts and other products.

Local guides provide information about the history, culture and communities visited during the tour and accompany travelers during activities.

Entrance fees to sites such as Elmina Castle and Cape Coast Castle contribute to the organisations responsible for managing these heritage sites.

Travelers also have opportunities to meet local people and learn about local customs, traditions and everyday life.

The trip is operated with local teams in Egypt and Ghana. Local guides, historians and cultural experts provide information and guidance during the tour.
