Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCE
We believe that exploring the Arctic should go hand in hand with protecting it. Our sailing and ski-touring holidays are designed to minimize environmental impact. By traveling under sail whenever possible, we reduce carbon emissions and avoid the noise and disruption of motorized travel. Our itineraries focus on low-impact activities such as trekking and ski touring, rather than car-based excursions. Even behind the scenes, our office works remotely to eliminate unnecessary commuting and business trips. On board, we offer vegetarian and vegan options, with the crew cooking fresh meals they enjoy, using local ingredients to reduce waste and support sustainable choices.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We admire nature without disturbing it. Ski tours and hikes follow Leave No Trace principles, and wildlife encounters—such as whale watching—are conducted at a respectful distance. Sailing under wind power is quiet and gentle, allowing the Arctic’s fragile ecosystems to thrive undisturbed. We respect local species and landscapes, ensuring that every experience is about appreciation, not interference. This is more than a holiday—it’s a commitment to preserving the Arctic’s beauty for future generations.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY
We believe travel must benefit local communities. On this trip, we work closely with local guides who know the terrain, weather, and culture of the Sunnmøre Alps and surrounding fjords. This ensures authentic experiences and supports the local economy. We also rent ski-touring equipment locally (except for our own yachts), which creates income for regional businesses. When possible, we visit small villages and encourage guests to explore local shops and taste regional products, helping sustain traditional livelihoods.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
All our skippers are highly qualified and operate under official national regulations and requirements. We provide equal opportunities for everyone to achieve this role and actively support women in sailing leadership positions. We pay fair wages that meet or exceed national standards, ensuring dignity and respect for all staff.
Our workplace embraces diversity: we welcome LGBTQ+ guests and crew, and we foster an inclusive environment without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality. This trip is suitable for people with hearing or vision impairments and for those with partial mobility limitations. The only restriction applies to wheelchair users, as our yachts are not equipped with accessibility systems. No prior sailing experience is required—our professional skippers ensure safety and comfort for all.
We do not currently run a Trip for a Trip scheme, but we are committed to responsible travel and creating opportunities for marginalized groups wherever possible.
