Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION
We are committed to offering low-impact holidays, which benefit the countries and communities we visit, as well as our travellers and the natural environment. We believe in the transformative power of travel and aim to minimise our ecological footprint by selecting eco-friendly accommodations, encouraging waste reduction, and supporting sustainable transportation options where possible.

Our walking tours are also designed to immerse participants in the local culture, fostering meaningful connections with the communities we visit. We strive to leave a positive impact by engaging in responsible tourism activities, respecting local customs, and contributing to the preservation of natural landscapes. Through our commitment to responsible travel, we aim to create enriching experiences for our guests while actively contributing to the conservation of the destinations we explore.

This walking tour keeps its carbon footprint low by combining short, efficient transfers — 30 minutes from Tenerife South Airport to Costa Adeje, 90 minutes by ferry from Los Cristianos to San Sebastian, and 60–90 minutes by road to Valle Gran Rey — with daily walks of up to 60 minutes on established trails. Exploring on foot allows you to experience La Gomera’s landscapes intimately while protecting the island’s natural environment and minimising impact on local ecosystems.

The H10 Costa Adeje Palace in Tenerife combines comfort with sustainability, holding a Biosphere Sustainable certification and implementing eco-friendly practices like renewable electricity, solar energy, water and waste reduction, and composting programmes. Its restaurants offer vegetarian and vegan-friendly options, with salads, plant-based dishes, and flexible choices available, allowing guests to enjoy delicious meals while supporting a hotel committed to protecting the environment.

In La Gomera, the Hotel Gran Rey embraces sustainability with similar eco-friendly practices and uses locally-sourced produce, supporting both the environment and the island’s community. Its buffet includes fresh vegetarian and vegan-friendly options, letting guests enjoy delicious meals while staying in harmony with La Gomera’s natural surroundings.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy in national parks, archaeological sites, monuments, and other sensitive areas like beaches and coastlines; these should be treated with the ultimate respect to maintain them for future generations. Our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to our customers during the holiday.

This La Gomera walking tour combines low-impact travel with immersive exploration, helping protect the island’s unique landscapes and ecosystems. Most sightseeing is on foot along well-established trails, from laurisilva forests in Garajonay National Park to coastal paths and palm groves, reducing carbon emissions while allowing you to experience the island’s natural beauty up close.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY
We provide ample opportunity to explore the local areas on foot, where you can shop for local wares and crafts and immerse yourselves in the rich cultural heritage of the destination. To enhance your experience, as well as your tour leader, each holiday will be accompanied by a well-qualified and knowledgeable English-speaking local guide.

By visiting villages like Valle Gran Rey, Chipude, El Cercado, and Alojera, walkers support local shops, cafés, and artisans, contributing directly to the island’s economy and preserving traditional crafts such as pottery. Leisurely stops for refreshments and picnics in natural settings further encourage sustainable interaction with La Gomera’s environment, making the tour both environmentally responsible and culturally enriching.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY
We are committed to responsible and sustainable travel practices that support both the local environment and surrounding communities. By selecting environmentally conscious accommodation, encouraging reduced waste, and prioritising sustainable transport where possible, we aim to minimise our footprint. Through respectful engagement and conscious travel choices, we strive to protect natural landscapes while delivering enriching and memorable experiences.

Our walking tours are thoughtfully designed to immerse guests in local heritage and culture, building meaningful connections with the places and people we visit - including the employment of local tour guides. As a company, we believe in workplace diversity and equal employment, with opportunities available to everybody regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality.
