Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION
We are committed to offering low-impact holidays, which benefit the countries and communities we visit, as well as our travellers and the natural environment. We believe in the transformative power of travel and aim to minimise our ecological footprint by selecting eco-friendly accommodations, encouraging waste reduction, and supporting sustainable transportation options where possible.

Our walking holiday offers a low-impact way to explore northern Spain, with much of the experience centred on guided walks through unspoilt landscapes. Along the way, it combines rich natural immersion, including wildlife spotting, mountain scenery, and peaceful countryside, along with authentic cultural experiences.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy in national parks, archaeological sites, monuments, and other sensitive areas like beaches and coastlines; these should be treated with the ultimate respect to maintain them for future generations. Our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to our customers during the holiday.

Your accommodation, Casa Sarasa, is set within a picturesque location at the foot of Berdún, a hilltop village that's surrounded by beautiful countryside and sweeping views, and an ideal base for exploring the area on foot. Its setting naturally lends itself to low-impact travel, with scenic walking routes right from the doorstep, which allow guests to enjoy the landscape while minimising environmental impact.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY
We provide ample opportunity to explore the local areas on foot, where you can shop for local wares and crafts and immerse yourselves in the rich cultural heritage of the destination. To enhance your experience, as well as your tour leader, each holiday will be accompanied by a well-qualified and knowledgeable English-speaking local guide.

This walking holiday supports the local economy by prioritising meals in local restaurants, visits to nearby wineries and markets, and showcasing regional produce and traditional recipes throughout. With a focus on locally sourced food and plenty of exploration on foot, it offers a low-carbon way to experience the destination while directly benefitting local communities.

Your meals will be on a full board basis from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on Day 8. Buffet breakfasts and dinners will be taken at the hotel. The hotel prides itself on its menu, with all meals freshly cooked and prepared on the premises by Melanie. Casa Sarasa also has an allotment and uses fresh seasonal produce in its dishes.

As the name of the holiday implies, a daily highlight is the picnic lunch provided by Casa Sarasa. Original, varied and delicious picnics, tablecloth included, are served in spectacular mountain settings always with amazing views.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY
We are committed to responsible and sustainable travel practices that support both the local environment and surrounding communities. By selecting environmentally conscious accommodation, encouraging reduced waste, and prioritising sustainable transport where possible, we aim to minimise our footprint. Through respectful engagement and conscious travel choices, we strive to protect natural landscapes while delivering enriching and memorable experiences.

Our walking tours are thoughtfully designed to immerse guests in local heritage and culture, building meaningful connections with the places and people we visit, including the employment of local tour guides. As a company, we believe in workplace diversity and equal employment, with opportunities available to everybody regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality.
