Trains are used all along this trip between each city and country visited + one overnight ferry between Sweden and Finland. We also walking/do orientation tours in each city.

Only bus transfers are from/to the airports and to go to/from the ferry. In Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki in 2025 (changing the hotel in Helsinki to Sokos hotel Arthur for 2025), all use renewable energies. All hotels offer both options at breakfast (extensive buffets). Only other meal included in the itinerary is dinner in Turku Finland, with vegetarian options. All other meals are at clients’ choice (not included) and It's no problem finding veggie or vegan options while travelling in the Nordics. All restaurants do have several options and are used to catering for these dietary requirements.

Environment and wildlife

Actions are very visible on the trip via recycling (several bins in hotel rooms), sourcing local food for breakfast, no single use plastic (refillable shampoo bottle, no plastic amenities’ packaging of any sort). In Stockholm the Lilla Radmannen hotel is a Green Key eco-labelled hotel. Green Key is an international eco-label specially designed for the tourism industry, and is run by Green Key Sweden.

In 2024 a day out in a Finnish archipelago was included, with a guided tour of Seili island given by the local guiding association presenting the history & nature of the island and the research conducted by University of Turku. Archipelago Research Institute of the University of Turku has operated on Seili island since 1964. The Institute participates in multidisciplinary research of the Baltic Sea with a special focus on the Archipelago Sea. See more: Visit Seili - Research. NOTE: The itinerary is being slightly remodelled for improvements for 2025 and will not include the visit of Seili island anymore. We are looking into including an equivalent alternative on another island visit.

Local economy

Expert guide on Vrångö island in Sweden (day out from Gothenburg) giving a full tour of the island with explanation of the fauna/flora, landscape, history etc. He’s from the local community, was born on the island and owns the only hotel of the island which he’s developed to keep the economy going. His daughter also participates as a guide.

Employment, inclusivity and diversity

We pay our guides at least minimum wage, if not more. We operate a workplace diversity strategy – to nurture equal employment without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation or nationality This trip is LGBTQIA+ friendly. To some extent (except limited mobility) this trip is suitable for people with vision or hearing; or cognitive issues as clients do have to carry their luggage on all journeys from/to the hotels and on/off the trains/ferry.
