Highlights of our Solo sailing holidays

Deckchairs, or all hands on deck?

How involved do you want to be on your sailing holiday? We’ve got trips where a crew does all the sailing for you, and you can concentrate on having a holiday. Then again, we’ve got trips where you’ll learn how to sail and operate in watches with the rest of the crew. If you want to get stuck in, but you don’t know a bow from a bowline, fear knot: you don’t need to know how to sail to go on many of our trips. Your crew will teach you how to help, and you’ll be comfortably helming, navigating, and operating winches in no time. We’ve also got holidays for more experienced sailors – from ‘mile-builder’ trips featuring lots of blue water sailing, to adventurous passages in the Atlantic, the Azores, and even the Arctic.

Where can you go on a solo sailing holiday?

If you’re more interested in cruising and relaxing than in hauling lines, then take one of our cruises in the Maldives, where you’ll sail aboard a traditional local dhoni from atoll to atoll, looking out for spinner dolphins from the deck. Alternatively, head to the Gambia River to go on a gentle river cruise with plenty of birdlife. More wildlife can be found sailing round Spitsbergen – where standing on a chilly deck might reward you with a walrus sighting. For trips where the sailing itself is the highlight, try heading to island-hop around Greece, sail the islands off the coast of western Scotland, or consider more challenging open water sailing in the Bay of Biscay or the Canary Islands.
