The best way to take a solo wildlife holiday is by joining a band of like-minded fellow travellers, which allows you to share amazing sightings with others (and photos) while also breaking away from the group during free time, should you feel like doing your own thing for a while. They are led by professional tour leaders and may also meet up with expert local guides. Our small group holidays don’t just make wildlife holidays more affordable, since you’re sharing the cost of transport and guides; they also make more accessible some far-flung destinations and adventurous experiences that might be hard to organise by yourself.
Tailor made for solo travellers
We have tailor made solo wildlife holidays, where you would have your personal guide, as well as a driver where necessary. That does mean your trip will be considerably more expensive than if you were to join a group tour where costs are shared, but it also means that you can set the agenda. You decide what animal you’re searching for each day, and you decide how long you want to spend out in the field, or when to move on to another viewpoint. Our holidays use immensely knowledgeable guides who will organise an itinerary that leans on both their own connections with local communities for tips, and recorded sightings data. You needn’t be alone the whole time, if you prefer. For instance, you might join other people on a game drive or a whale-watching boat trip, but if you’d rather follow your own plans it’s perfectly possible.

Too many to single out, but the rhino tracking on foot at Matobo, plus night time elephant visits to our campsite waterholes at Hwange and Elephant Sands were highlights for me. A great holiday lead by two excellent tour leaders (Wayne and Tabani). The itinerary was quite varied with each place having it's own unique charm. I would happily recommend this trip.read more

Can I give more than 5 stars? It was phenomenal! The only thing I would have changed is to stay longer. There were so many memorable parts of my visit to Uganda! It was packed with exciting and enriching experiences. The close encounters - dare I say, connection -with the mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, as well as the deeply personal and moving visit to the Batwa community were among the most impactful.
