Travel guides
Spain is one of Europe’s most sought-after holiday destinations for families.
Learn what we rate, what we don't, and how to travel responsibly in our guide to Andalucia.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Waste:We promise to clean our adjacent river from rubbish after rain storms.Sadly enough the Spanish mentality about waste is still far under North European Standards and we still have to educate them much about this subject. We seperate plasic, bottles and paper and encourage our guests to feed the pigs with the leftovers of their meals.
We have constructed our cottages with old doors, beams and floortiles that we have gathered from old buildings, dumps and give aways.
We have restored hunderds of meters of stone walls that were fallen apart .
All these stones have been collected personally and do not proceed from a stone quarry.
Collected and used many old bricks from old buildings that were in the proces of demolishing.
We organise walking/nature tours with a local guide who explains about the flora, fauna and envirement as well gives explanation about the life in the villages.
We have planted various authentic trees and plants from the region and have adopted 5 dogs and 3 cats abandoned in the village.
People
We organise a Gourmet Walking Week in which several local restaurants participate including a certified Hamhouse D.O.Jamon de Huelva a Cheesemaking farm .We organise donkeyrides with local donkeys and local guide and organise winetasting evenings in a local restaurant.
Further to this all we explain our guests about visiting the highlights of the Natural Park like the caves in Aracena, musea and castles to be visited.
We also arrange on request a cooking class given by a local chef in the village and organise Spanish classes as well Spanish Flamenco guitar classes given by locals.
We encourage our guests to do their shopping locally in our small village instead of going to the supermarkets in the bigger town of Aracena.
