Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

We encourage separate waste collection.

Upon arrival, we explain in detail how to do so to our guests. Additionally, there is a written reminder in the apartment.

Incoraggiamo i nostri ospiti ad usare saponi e detersivi naturali a basso impatto ambientale durante il loro soggiorno.

Our own selection to live like a local in Perugia and Umbria:

We have selected the best restaurants, pizzerias, and trattorias in Perugia for our guests, using only local, zero-mile ingredients. All offer discounts and special attention to our guests.
We prefer to suggest small, local, family-run restaurants where the customer is not a number.
All our collaborators are local.
We have also suggestions for delicious local vegan and vegeterian restaurants.
We have purchased and continue to purchase all our furniture from small local companies to support the local economy.

I was part of the administrative Council of the First District of the town of Perugia. Perugia is divided into 13 districts (called Circoscrizioni). I am one of the 15 councillors of the First Circoscrizione. I was elected democratically by the people in the area. This is a totally voluntary commitment and without any remuneration. The Council annually gives contributions to the integration of legal immigrants. The Council manages some housing occupied by families less fortunate. The Council promotes the recovery of old buildings and the maintenance and control of green areas and forests. The Board is also for monitoring compliance with the legislation and the urban environment throughout the area.

My family and I support charity: each year we give 200 Euro to the Catholic Church for "Caritas" (Catholic humanitarian organization); Euro 250 to the "Comitato per la vita Daniele Chianelli" (Perugia Association Foundation for research and treatment of leukemia and cancer of children), Euro 200 to the AIRC "Associazione Italiana per la ricerca sul Cancro" (Italian Association for Research on Cancer). Finally, usually once a year we advertise among our friends and on our walls a collection of used clothes and toys for families less fortunate in our area.

We use eco cleaning products in our apartment. We use them to wash linens, towels and sheets of our guests weekly. We don't provide products (such as food or soap) to our guests. If they ask I'm always happy to give them suggestions for the best eco cleaning products they can find in Perugia. The name of the products that we use is ECO LAND. We use it for the washing-machine, dish-washer and hand wash liquid soap. The Eco Land products don't have any phosphates, enzymes, chlorine or dyes. It contains surfactants of plant origin and essential oil of orange and violet. They are made from the natural company kigroup.

The apartment is managed by me and my family, we don't have other people in our staff ...only my family. As self catering vacation rental (no food, no restaurant... each apt. has a fully equipped kitchen) we provide a welcome basket at the arrival with local food and beverage for the first evening and morning: typical Umbria olive oil, spaghetti, tomato sauce, Umbria red wine, bread, milk, sugar, tea, coffee, Cornflakes, butter, infusion, biscuits, water, orange juice and jam.
We use always the same local workers: our plumbers, electricians, painters, blacksmith, gardeners and carpenters are all artisans of Perugia! We don't like big companies and we always prefer to have the same Perugia artisans.
