GR20 walking holiday in Corsica, France
Description of GR20 walking holiday in Corsica, France
There are many aspects that make the GR20 in Corsica one of the most challenging walking routes on the continent not least of all the general lack of water available and perhaps the particularly cramped accommodation conditions.
However, the challenge and the terrain are why this two week walking holiday never fails to excite with daily durations between five to ten hours ensuring adjustment to altitude is never underestimated, especially when approaching the steep slopes of Monte Cinto.
As this particularly GR20 itinerary incorporates opportunities to carry just day packs, stay in private gîtes and enjoy a day off mid-way through the holiday in Corte, walkers will find plenty of chances to rest and enjoy the surrounding scenery rather than slogging it out on a route march.
The variety of landscapes on the GR20 is simply stunning with a combination of sheer cliff top trails, shaded forests, lush meadows and rock pools and ponds formed from fast-flowing rivers making up just some of the scenes that you’ll experience on Corsica’s toughest trek.

Planet and people
UK officeIt all starts at home so we have first worked at reducing our carbon footprint in our UK offices. Through energy conservation measures and recycling policies in place, we are proud to be actively reducing the waste produced and our impact on the environment. We support various projects all over the world to try and give something back to the places we visit.
Leaders & local suppliers
Throughout this trek we stay in family-run mountain refuges helping to support the mountain community. While trekking our leaders and support staff work hard to ensure our groups leave minimal impact on the areas they walk, taking all litter and recycling where possible.
Group size
We operate small group tours that have a low impact on the communities we visit and we always ensure our operations do not disrupt or lead to the displacement of local people. This allows us to stay in unique and characterful accommodation that would not have benefitted from tourism due to their limited size.
Activity
Few holidays have as little detrimental impact on the environment and local residents as a walking trip. It is a quiet, low impact activity requiring comparatively little resources to support. Erosion on and adjacent to popular paths is a growing problem and our trip leaders encourage clients not to stray from paths to minimise this.
