This eight-day holiday introduces you to the best of Montenegro – historic towns, ancient monasteries, UNESCO sites, beautiful mountain trails and quiet coastal bays, all topped off with lashings of delicious local organic food! Although available all year round, this is a wonderful trip to take off season, so you enjoy the best of Montenegro without the crowds or traffic, and escape the cold, grey weather back home!

Come and experience a way of life that hasn’t changed much in centuries, while enjoying all modern comforts. This trip takes you first to the coast and then inland, to discover the culture, landscapes and food of this welcoming country. Learn about Montenegro’s love of honey, enjoy an exclusive visit to a wine estate, cruise Skadar Lake on a private boat, take guided hikes through rugged scenery and discover the towns of Kotor and Perast on an informative walking tour. All the while soak up the sunshine – Montenegro’s climate is pleasant and sunny most of the year.

This holiday can tailor made for groups of up to 10 people. Car hire is included, all accommodation and specified activities, and breakfasts every day plus three lunches. In addition, there are plenty of other optional activities that we are happy to arrange for you. We also include a tailor made road book with additional recommendations, so you get the most from your trip. Entrance to Skadar National Park and insurance for all excursions is included in the price.

Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

We believe in managing the volume of tourism to provide individually unique nature experiences that allow interaction while safeguarding the environmental and cultural heritage within Montenegro for the benefit of current and future generations. This tour was designed specifically for small groups and we constantly vary the route and itinerary to minimize direct impact on this sensitive area.

As with all of our tours, we give 5% of our profits to sponsor environmental programs within Montenegro in line with the priorities set by the ministry of sustainable tourism. Travel with us also helps support our non-profit NGO – Zero Waste Montenegro.

All our guides are local to the region and are personally selected for their specific knowledge of the areas flora and fauna. They are passionate about the environment and ensure that guest follow the simple principal of leave no trace, only footprints. Our staff monitor this area regularly to maintain paths, trail markers and remove refuse. Lovcen is a National Park so your visit and Park fees will help sustain the facilities and provide ongoing protection for this area. Accommodation is in local farm stay or ethno village when available or in hotel or guest house selected for its high eco-rating and excellent valid corporate social responsibility policy. Accommodation providers are given support and advice from our staff on all aspects of providing excellent facilities and services in line with the principals of sustainability. All service providers are encouraged to promote the Reduce, Recycle, Re-use principals of waste management.

Transfers are provided by recognized service providers licensed by the government of Montenegro. All vehicles are eco-rated and chosen for their respective high compliance. This itinerary was designed to minimize excessive vehicle travel and to promote interaction with the natural environment. Guests are given options to reduce their carbon footprint on the tour and educated on the principals of responsible travel. As with all of our tours, an important % of our profits are used to sponsor environmental programs within Montenegro: travel with us also helps support the non-profit organization that we created – Zero Waste Montenegro.

The Impacts of this Trip

By travelling with us you will ensure ongoing economic benefits, alternative employment and income opportunities for local people and businesses. This itinerary includes travel through small communities and a visit to a local producer. Places we take you are filled with hospitality and are run by locals, you will find peace at a local homestay on the Lake, where the family put a lot of care to the products they make, but even more to the guests who visit them. It provides an excellent opportunity for unique interactions between the visitor and the local people.

Visitors support the local people by both being a guest and through the purchase of local produce. Visitors contribute to the education of local people and stakeholders by providing a cultural exchange between guests and hosts. It can foster understanding between people, this increases the chances for people to develop mutual sympathy, tolerance and understanding and to reduce prejudices and promote the sense of global brotherhood. Tourism also helps to raise local awareness concerning the financial value of natural and cultural sites. It can stimulate a feeling of pride in local and national heritage and interest in its conservation.

The warmth and friendliness of the people! Everyone we met was lovely and welcoming.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Take the time to talk to the local people and learn about the landmarks you're visiting. We found out some really interesting things from the places we visited
just from chatting to people.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, we mostly stayed in small guesthouses and visited small businesses and local guides who were trying to do things in an environmentally-friendly way, i.e.
beekeepers and small wine producers.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was amazing! We utterly loved Montenegro and would definitely visit again. The scenery, people and places to visit were all wonderful and we can't
recommend it highly enough.
