This self guided cycling holiday in Catalonia reveals this region’s most beautiful landscapes and routes. Cycle along the ‘wild coast’, with its long, sandy beaches. Pedal inland through the Aiguamolls Nature Reserve, home to an array of seabirds and songbirds. Follow beautiful trails that offer long views into the Pyrenees and hop off your bike to explore Romanesque and gothic buildings, pretty medieval villages and the Greek and Roman ruins of Empuries. The wonderful food and drink local to this part of Spain is another treat so, after a day in the saddle, enjoy a hearty meal and delicious wine, produced by the vineyards you pass on your bike. This self guided eight day holiday is designed with an itinerary, but you can tailor make it to your interests. Bikes are included and 24 hour local support included. Cycle routes are typically easy to moderate, involving around four hours’ cycling, but you are free to cut routes short and spend a day on the beach instead. There is also a free day factored in, for time relaxing on the coast or perhaps a visit to Dali’s house in Cadaqués or the Dali Museum in Figueres.
This holiday is perfect for families, couples and small groups. Luggage is transferred for you, with accommodation in family run country hotels. This region is only 40 minutes from Girona and thanks to the new AVANT (high speed rail link), it can be reached in just 53 minutes from Barcelona.
Note: The timescales on the cycle routes do not include breaks or visits to attractions.

The Impacts of this Trip
Our self guided cycling holidays in Catalonia and tourism in general has benefited the local community here immensely, without tourism many of the local restaurants, hotels, guest houses and craft shops would not exist, all of which employ local staff. Many of the younger generation have also stayed due to the employment tourism brings to the community.
All of our accommodation is family owned and staffed by locals with their food being sourced locally. As our holidays run out of season they are particularly grateful of our custom.
We also believe our guests give a positive impact on the community. We encourage all our guests to interact with the local community, this gives both the guests and locals the change to interact and embrace each other’s cultural differences. In order to limit the social impact of tourism all are guests are sent information packs about the local customs, religion, politics and history. We encourage our guests to visit local craft shops and to buy any provisions locally.

Loved the fact that this worked so well for my husband and I - he's a serious recreational cyclist and I'm an avid cyclist but more casual in my approach. We're '50 something's' and found this all very enjoyable. Read full reviewReviewed on 01 Jan 2014 by Claire Hermolle
What a fantastic holiday! Cycling each day down a new route, through vineyards, small hamlets, to the beach! A holiday quite different to anything we had both been on before. Read full reviewReviewed on 16 Dec 2013 by Amy Shannon

Approaching San Pere Pescador, tired and a little sore it has to be said, we emerged from the campsite situated on the beach front. Having meandered, oblivious to the outside world, through the beautiful and quiet National Park we were met by a sudden unexpected fantastic spectacle of colour and activity.
