Travel guides

Gorilla safari
This guide attempts to capture why this is considered by many to be one of the most magnificent wildlife safaris in the world.
Uganda
So much more than just mountain gorillas - our travel guide is your ultimate resource for Uganda.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Remembering that mountain gorillas are very susceptible to human diseases, we provide our clients with gorilla tracking rules of dos and don'ts so that mountain gorillas are left in peace with no stress, disease and a great environment for them to live in. One of the rules is if you are feeling ill, or you are carrying a contagious disease, volunteer to stay behind. An alternate gorilla trekking opportunity will be arranged for you.

Also, we highly request our clients to respect the limits imposed on the daily number of visitors allowed with the mountain gorillas. These limits minimize the risk of disease transmission and stress to the gorilla family groups.

On this trip we visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will go for guided rhino tracking with an experienced ranger, which gives you a unique opportunity to view the rhinos from a close distance. Kidepo Valley and Murchison Falls National Parks once had both black and white rhinos; however, widespread poaching during the Idi Amin era resulted in the disappearance of these majestic animals from the wild. Founded in 1998, Rhino Fund Uganda works to reintroduce black and white rhinos into Uganda and runs a breeding programme.

Safari game drives: Game drives are often very early in the morning so as to get better chances of viewing wildlife in their free nature. We provide a pre-departure guide and travel info demanding our clients not to encourage our safari guides to off track during game drives. This protects the environment and the other little animals and insects in the national parks

People

Hire porters: The amount of time you actually spend trekking mountain gorillas really depends on the location of the gorillas, and can take anywhere from a half-hour to eight hours. Hiking through the forest, making a trail through the dense overgrowth with a machete can be physically challenging, and requires that you be in relatively good physical shape.
Because of the above, we highly encourage our clients to hire local porters from the community who carry their backpacks and give moral support during gorilla trekking and make the experience much better. Porter fees are paid directly to the porters whom you find at the trekking briefing points. This therefore provides direct employment to the community who then appreciate tourism and conserve the forest and mountain gorillas that are in boundaries to the communities

Social Responsibility: For every safari that we organize, we buy sunscreens, hats and sunglasses for people living with Albinism. In Uganda, many persons living with Albinism do not live up to their 40th birthday due to skin cancer and many cannot afford these necessities to help them prevent it.
