1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The Huskies Safari was an unforgettable experience. The cabins had a great quality and were cozy and comfortable, clean and well equipped
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
I would recommend to fly directly to Rovaniemi and from there bus to Salla avoiding the long train ride. As well renting a car in Salla to get groceries or reach the ski station would be a good idea. Like that you can save some money and enjoy the cooking part in your cabin.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I think the local community definitely benefits from the trip. Nothing was over crowdy or over exploited.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Riitta, our travel agent was always available and provided assistance when required . Very professional and reliable.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Everything but especially Reindeer and husky safaris.

You are in safe hands with Riita
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It definitely benefited local people. I was really happy that our cabin was heated by woodchip. It did support conservation and the local people and I felt our money was going into the right hands.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A holiday of a lifetime and the beginning of a love affair with Finland.

First of all, although this destination offers beautiful Arctic landscape, it is not in Lapland but closer to Oulu so it can be reached by train from Helsinki. There are fewer tourists than in Lapland. The first part of this tour takes place by sledges pulled by huskies with accommodation at a new-built ecological wooden guesthouse of the husky farm and another night at a wilderness cabin with no running water. No garbage is left behind in the wilderness. The second part takes place in a new, modern and ecological ski hotel with geothermal heating and special attention paid on environmental issues. The skiing centre is located next to Syöte National Park, so there are a lot of nature trails around the area. Nature is one of the core values of all the local companies and the whole ski area is committed to sustainable tourism and it is participating the Sustainable Travel Finland programme by Visit Finland.People
By choosing this tour you are bringing employment to the wilderness area living mostly out of its forests. You will first meet a pioneer of all husky farms, run by a father and his daughter. At the wilderness cabin you will experience, how you can live without running water or central heating. During the husky safari, you will have lunch by an open fire and learn survival skills. after taking care of the dogs you will cook together, try the traditional Finnish sauna and even a dip in snow or ice-cold water. The ski hotel is also owned by local Finnish investors. There is a family-owned restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast and dinner are included in the package. Local skiing instructors and guides are taking care of the activities. We use a local driver for the transfers. What the most important, Iso-Syöte is a holiday destination used by Finns themselves.Popular similar holidays
