Our family winter holidays
For some, the instinct in winter is to hibernate: not us! Our family winter holidays are all about sport and snow – Northern Lights and reindeer in Lapland, ski lessons and outdoor thermal pools in Slovakia’s High Tatras, or learning to snowshoe and following animal footprints in the Montenegrin wilderness. Our family winter holidays don’t just make the most of short winter days, but long winter nights, too – set your ‘Aurora alarm’ and get ready for campfires and evening drives in search of the Northern Lights . So, fire up those woodburning stoves, get stuck in with local culture, food and traditions, and give your family an unforgettable present: memories for years to come.

Winter family holiday highlights
Lapland family winter holidays
There’s winter, and then there is winter wonderland – our Lapland family winter holidays are definitely the latter. The majority of our Lapland holidays take place in Finnish Lapland, where you can expect a metre of snow, the clearest night sky you’ve ever seen and the prospect of getting around by husky sled. We provide the snow suits, Mother Nature provides the perfect environment, and all you need to do is arrive with a sense of adventure.
Activities abound: there’s ice fishing on frozen lakes with just a pole and a hole, then there’s tobogganing (and falling off) on snowy slopes, rounding off each day with cosy dinners made with local food. This might be a silent, still place but you’ll still have plenty of encounters. You’ll meet the reindeer and the Sami herders who care for them, and get acquainted with the Northern Lights, who might pop in for an evening visit and outstay their welcome long into the night. Perhaps you’ll even meet Santa Claus – rumour has it he’s from around these parts, too.

Winter family multi activity holidays
Our winter multi activity holidays focus on Europe and Europe’s mountains, of which the continent has many. Whilst the high-altitude slopes of the Alps in France, Italy, Switzerland or Austria are usually the go-to for winter sport, we like to champion some alternatives too. Montenegro’s mountains are far, far wilder and you can still ski, snowboard and enjoy the scenery in beautiful, UNESCO-listed Durmitor National Park. Slovakia’s High Tatras mountains are another wild place and up here you don’t just get snowy slopes but the perfect apres-ski, too. The country is known for its bathing culture and thermal pools, and after a few days of winter walking, snowshoeing or skiing, there’s no better place to defrost.
