We loved all the activities. I think the huskies would be voted top by most of the party. But just the experience of being surrounded by a beautiful snowy trees and scenery and for small (and larger) children, the constant availability of sledges and slopes and lovely deep snow is magical. Just being able to go in to the zoo every day we were there and see those animals and birds once more was also special. (more)Liz Garrett

Far too many to mention personally - running the Helsinki Marathon (fantastic scenic route!) at the end of the trip was a personal highlight but aside from this I also enjoyed the beautiful scenery of northern Finland and great accommodation
throughout the trip. My 4 year old son enjoyed it all too but his favourites were the Angry Birds Kids Theme Park, Husky Sledding, meeting Santa Claus, feeding reindeers, running the Helsinki Mini Marathon for kids, riding the trams... (more)Richard Mayneord

Seeing the most awesome display of the Aurora Borealis on New Year's Eve! How lucky were we? This was the icing on the cake, following four days of exhilarating activities.
Tips?
It's a fair walk from the lake and hotel to the larger cabins and some activities can be slightly tiring, so make sure you are comfortable in what you are wearing and have some energy! If you wear glasses, take contact lenses.

The whole holiday was just amazing. I loved being able to explore the vast, white wilderness which was just the most quiet and peaceful place I have ever
been. Doing this via snowmobiles, skis, snowshoes and huskies was very special. Seeing the aurora twice during our stay, with a dancing, swirling light show on our last aurora camp, has to go down as one of our most memorable and special moments of our stay. To fly to Ivalo and stay at Nangu Wilderness hotel. The hotel is beautiful and very new, the staff is amazing and they go above and beyond to make tou
feel like home. Next time I would probably hire a car to explore the surrounding.

The most memorable feature of the holiday - to the average city-dwelling Brit - was the landscape. Forests and frozen lakes, big skies and 18-hours of daylight - our girls were convinced they were in Narnia (the thaw suggesting Aslan would arrive soon). (more)Anon

Horse drawn sleigh ride to see Northern Lights. It was too cloudy to
see lights but the sleigh ride was magical. Kids really enjoyed it. Loved cooking Frankfurter's over open fire, washed down with freshly brewed coffee.
Tips?
Don't pay out for heavy snow clothes. All outdoor gear supplied. Don't pack loads to heavy jumpers. We brought far too many clothes and didn't end up wearing half of them.Pack thermal underwear and 1 or 2 thick or fleece jumpers.
