Most notably, leaving Split (after a fascinating walking tour around the city including the ancient Diocletian’s Palace, you’ll take a catamaran over to Lastovo, which is Croatia’s most remote island. Here in this isolated little patch of paradise, a world apart from the busy Dalmatian Coast, you’ll stay in a gorgeous bayside guest house. In Lastovo, you’ll spend a day with a local fishing crew as they head out into the Adriatic to bring in a catch of scorpion fish, sardines, mackerel and bream, learning about self-sustaining life and traditions in this welcoming island community. Lastovo’s population is dwindling as people leave for employment opportunities elsewhere, so responsible tourism such as this is a fantastic way to provide jobs and income.
After Lastovo you’ll move on to Korcula, another island idyll, on Korcula. This tour takes you to the little-visited village of Pupnat, as well as a guided walk around the charming old town, after which you can seek out one of Korcula’s many excellent seafood restaurants.
Sailing back over to the mainland by ferry you’ll be making for magnificent Dubrovnik and its famous city walls. But before arriving in one of Europe’s most picturesque cities, you’ll spend a day idling along the pretty Peljesac Peninsula, with the opportunity for some tastings at a handful of the region’s best wineries.
While this trip is wonderful for newcomers to Croatia, even those already familiar with this beautiful country will find plenty of cultural treats to enjoy here.

This trip includes a fishing day trip on Lastovo Island, an island rarely visited by tourists and still home to many locals with a long history of earning a living by fishing. To reduce the impact of over fishing the waters surrounding the island, local people take visitors out for a day on the water. They can show off the beauty of the island, explain their way of life and how their natural resources have been depleted over the years. They also cast a short amount of net, catching enough fish to feed their guests a delicious fresh seafood lunch. By hosting tourists on this experience, locals can earn the same income as they did through fishing, while lowering their environmental impact.
