Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Cambodia is still affected by unexploded ordnance left behind from past conflicts. We support APOPO, a Siem Reap based non-government organisation that trains African giant pouched rats to detect landmines and unexploded ordnance, helping specialist teams safely clear affected areas. We have also adopted Magawa, one of APOPO's HeroRATs, in support of their ongoing work.

As tap water is not suitable for drinking in Cambodia, refill stations are available at most of our overnight accommodation and many activity locations. Travellers are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, and reusable INTRO branded bottles are available to purchase for those who need one.

As part of our Small Change initiative, we support a range of environmental and community focused projects. In 2019, we partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant 10 trees for every booking received. Since late 2023, we have also worked with Path Net Zero to measure the emissions associated with our tours and with Veritree to support verified tree planting projects.

People

We ensure that every trip we run has a direct and positive impact on the local communities we visit. This means that your money is being used to support the local economy, and going direct to those who need it most. Every one of our trips includes a variety of #smallchanges that you’ll get to experience first hand.

Mr Op and his family from the Mekong Delta in Vietnam started with humble beginnings and only a couple of bungalows on a small island on the Delta. After 2 years of support from our groups visiting and experiencing how the locals really live there, he’s been able to create enough bungalows for our groups to stay with him and his family on this tiny island on the Delta.

In some impoverished areas throughout Cambodia, many families cannot afford school uniforms or basic school equipment. But we're working hard to change it. We've been working directly with the local village chiefs of the rural villages of Siem Reap, Cambodia, to help provide necessary supplies for many school children, and through both our own contributions and the generosity of our travellers, this has been made possible!

For our cooking class, we source our ingredients from local markets, which helps and gives back to the local communities.

Throughout Cambodia, we work with local guides who help us understand the history and culture behind Cambodia. The stories may be difficult to learn, but necessary to understand Cambodia's past.

Throughout Cambodia, we also stay at local hotels and guesthouses which help support local businesses.

As opposed to being a cultural observer, our trips are designed to help you understand and respect local cultures, traditions and ways of life. Through sharing knowledge and understanding, we ensure that your travels are mutually beneficial for both you, and those you are visiting.
