CARBON REDUCTION

Embarking on our hiking inn-to-inn holiday in the stunning Peneda-Gerês National Park not only offers you an unforgettable adventure but also contributes positively to the environment and local communities. Here's how:

Low Carbon Footprint:
By choosing to hike between inns rather than using cars or other forms of motorized transport, you significantly reduce your carbon footprint. Walking is the most eco-friendly way to travel, minimizing emissions and preserving the pristine natural beauty of Peneda-Gerês.

Reduced Long-Distance Transfers:
To further minimize environmental impact, we encourage travelers to use the train to reach the closest destination to Peneda-Gerês National Park. This reduces the need for long-distance car transfers and helps lower overall carbon emissions associated with your trip.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE

Conservation Awareness:
Our guide walk emphasize the importance of conservation. You'll learn about the local ecosystems, wildlife, and plant species, fostering a deeper appreciation and respect for nature. This awareness encourages sustainable practices that help protect the park for future generations.

Paperless travel
Our digital travel notes are 100% digital. You can access all the details of your trip intuitively and offline via our app.

We are directly involved in local conservation projects in the Park, organising and participating in actions to raise awareness, as well as initiatives to reforest or remove invasive species. Our travelers have the opportunity to take part in these activities. For each trip, we make a donation of €5 per person to a local conservation project, association or community initiative.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY:

During your holiday you will be staying in a selection of small local or family run establishments. Most of these are old rural houses that have been renovated and given a new lease of life. There's always a little welcome treat of local products such as jams, cheeses, wines or honey!
In the National Park one certified sustainable tourism lodges.

We encourage you to eat in friendly local restaurants where you can try traditional regional dishes and taste local wines.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

This holiday includes visits with local guides, for whom we provide fair payment above the minimum wage and professional training opportunities.

This trip is prepared to welcome people with limited vision or hearing, our staff and guides are trained and we have interpretive materials to make your trip even more special!

This is a non-tourist, non-mass holiday where contact with the local community is constant and natural. On the daily itineraries we include information about local artisans, local shops and markets.

Choosing our holidays is more than just an escape into nature, it's a commitment to responsible travel. Together we can enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of Northern Portugal while making a positive impact on the environment and the local community.
