Travel guides
From group size to itinerary and guides, our guide details all you need to know about travelling in this fascinating country.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Transport:Much of the transport with the country is carried out using public transport, an effective way to help lower your carbon footprint, mingle with the locals and soak up the scenic views as you make your way to the next location. A lot of our activities are based on walking from place to place. These walking trips will provide you with light exercise - looking after your well being, while also reducing the carbon footprint on the planet - looking after the planet’s well being!
Accommodation:
We choose locally run accommodation and are booked with local suppliers to meet our goals of giving back to the locals. Here you have the opportunity to learn about their way of life and indulge in the local cuisines. All of the places we stay in are passionate about doing their part when it comes to the environment. Hotels suggest only washing towels and bedding when it's required, reducing the water use per day. The farm-stay allows for farm to table meals, reducing their carbon footprint. Guests can learn about local farming traditions, ecosystems, and sustainability.
On this tour, we stay in hotels, overnight boat & farm-stay, a great way to immerse yourself in the local tradition. Whilst you’re staying in each of these places, we encourage you to use local services on offer, this way your money goes straight into the local community and economy. Check out the Local Restaurants or Street Food Vendors rather than visiting chains.
Wildlife:
Whilst visiting the Phong Nha, known for it's endless jungle and famous caves, we encourage travellers to follow waste disposal rules – carry out any trash, and use eco-friendly products to avoid pollution, such as the use of biodegradable sunscreen when bathing in the national park.
Top Tips:
We do not encourage our travellers to drink tap water in Vietnam, however we still suggest packing a reusable water bottle in case there are safe refill stations so that we can still try to minimise the trail of plastic left behind.
We also recommend packing as light as possible, to help keep your carbon footprint low.
People
Local tour guides:You’ll have a different guide for each destination you visit, with each one being a specialist in their hometown. By using local tour guides we help support the local people and provide employment opportunities. Your guides provide in-depth knowledge of their hometowns, offering travellers authentic insights into local customs and hidden gems.
Learn about a key period in Vietnamese history at the Cu Chi Tunnels from local guides and experts, who will tell you all about why these tunnels were so important during the war.
Local experiences:
Majority of the activities in our tour is designed to give an insight into the life of the people of Vietnam. We include experiences that allow our travellers to soak up the language, culture and history of different cities and small villages. All of our customers’ interactions are with local suppliers, and we promote integration between travellers and local people through our “unmissable” included activities and our optional activities, and opportunities for authentic cultural immersion.
What better way to immerse yourself in the city then by watching the locals crossing the roads of Ho Chi Minh, lose yourself in the brightly coloured streets full of lanterns in Hoi An and learn about the crafts this city is so well known for. Dive deep into the history of the country, whether that is the modern day conflict or the natural wonders.
Our Adventure Leaders are trained in ensuring that customers are aware of local customs and traditions, educating them on when it is appropriate to take photos and/or videos.
