Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

CARBON REDUCTIONThis carefully crafted luxury tour through London, the Cotswolds, and Bath is built with sustainability in mind. Rather than packing in numerous destinations, we focus on a select few, encouraging longer stays and deeper, more enriching experiences. This choice also supports lower travel emissions.
Dormy House is a part of the Farncombe Estate, which has many sustainable initiatives. They monitor each building's gas, water, and electricity usage, recycle 75% of all waste, while the remaining 25% goes directly to a waste-to-power plant to generate electricity, and they also have a zero-to-landfill policy. The latter means that they’ve sent 0% of their waste to landfills in the past three years.
Additionally, the hotels and dining venues on our route prioritise local sourcing. The Lygon Arms, for example, crafts its menus around produce grown on-site or procured from nearby farms, cutting down on food miles and supporting the surrounding agricultural community.
We also prioritise low-impact transport options, favouring walking tours and limiting vehicle use wherever possible to further reduce our environmental footprint.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We protect the natural world that inspires our journeys. From the outset, we share our environmental ethos through tools like our Travel Practicalities Guide, which educates guests on responsible travel.
This itinerary highlights properties with robust sustainability initiatives. The Lygon Arms implements an extensive recycling programme to minimise waste across the hotel. As part of the Farncombe Estate, Dormy House actively supports reforestation efforts, planting trees equivalent to their paper use and helping restore native woodlands.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYA key element of our travel philosophy is to leave a positive economic impact on the communities we visit. This trip features locally based guides who bring deep cultural insight and historical knowledge to our food and walking tours. Their expertise enhances our guests’ experience while providing income to residents.
During this itinerary, we encourage guests to explore authentic local experiences, such as Borough Market, where farmers, fishermen, and artisans offer traditional goods. Shopping here directly supports these small businesses and helps preserve local food heritage.
Our hotel partners share this community-first mindset. The Lygon Arms, for example, recruits locally and supports volunteer initiatives for its staff, ensuring fair wages and flexible hours that promote a healthy balance between work and life.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
All guides in this tour are local professionals who provide invaluable perspectives, contributing to a richer, more authentic experience. Hotels consciously seek to source from regional businesses and maintain diverse, inclusive workforces.
Accessibility is another cornerstone of our planning. Our tours are designed to accommodate guests with various needs and mobility levels, ensuring every traveller feels welcome and supported.
At our headquarters in Pembroke, West Wales - a region often overlooked economically - we are helping foster regeneration by creating job opportunities and investing in local talent. This uplifts the community while building a meaningful business foundation.
