CARBON REDUCTION

Human-powered transport: Rome is a city best explored on foot, with its historic streets, piazzas, and ancient ruins all within walking distance. During our time here, we’ll take gentle guided walks through cobbled lanes, lively squares, and archaeological sites, allowing you to experience the city at a relaxed pace. Feel the worn stones beneath your feet, listen to the echoes of fountains and church bells, and take in the vibrant atmosphere of street performers and bustling markets. Where needed, we’ll also use the city’s efficient public transport to reduce our carbon footprint.

Vegetarian and vegan options: We ensure vegetarian and vegan options are available throughout the trip by visiting local trattorias, markets, and restaurants with meat-free selections. During a hands-on Roman cooking class, you’ll prepare and taste traditional dishes, such as fresh pasta or seasonal vegetable recipes, adapted for all diets. The aromas of herbs, the textures of handmade dough, and the bold flavours of Roman cuisine create a sensory experience for everyone.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

Heritage and culture: Rome is a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers a wealth of history and culture to explore. We’ll visit iconic landmarks such as the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Vatican area, with tactile opportunities where possible to engage with ancient architecture. A highlight includes visiting a local artisan workshop, such as a mosaic maker, where you can handle the pieces and learn about the craft. Throughout our explorations, we promote sustainable travel practices, with some of our visits directly supporting the preservation of Rome’s cultural heritage for future generations.

Urban wildlife and environment: Despite being a busy capital, Rome has surprising pockets of urban wildlife. On walks through the city’s parks and gardens, such as Villa Borghese, you may hear birdsong from sparrows, blackbirds, and parakeets, or notice the rustle of squirrels in the trees. Along the Tiber River, you may also sense the presence of herons and ducks. Our guides will highlight these experiences and share the importance of respecting both the natural and historic environment that make Rome unique.

LOCAL ECONOMY

We pride ourselves on engaging local guides for all our trips. In Rome, this includes walking tours through historic districts, visits to artisan workshops, and exploring traditional markets. Along the way, you will experience the textures of ancient cobblestones, the sounds of fountains and bustling piazzas, and the scents of fresh produce, local pastries, and Roman delicacies. These experiences allow a deeper connection with Rome’s unique culture, history, and heritage.

Following our ethos of Responsible Tourism, we are passionate about supporting local businesses and community projects. During our stay, you will visit local workshops, learn about traditional crafts such as mosaic-making or leatherwork, and gain an appreciation of how these artisans maintain their livelihoods.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

As an inclusive employer, we are proud of our diverse and inclusive workforce, which aims to create a team that includes visually impaired staff members. Our focus is to provide Tailored and Group trips for the visually impaired community, while fostering an inclusive environment for all, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, ability, or sexual orientation.

Our trips are carefully planned to cater to various needs, including those with physical or sensory impairments. Assistance is available from the moment a client arrives at a destination until departure. On Tailored holidays, support is provided as much or as little as required depending on levels of sight and mobility. For Group trips, support is provided for every two clients, according to individual needs. Circumstances requiring additional support, including personal care or help during meal times, are assessed individually, and we do our utmost to accommodate all travellers.
