Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

CARBON REDUCTIONOur trips are designed around human-powered travel mainly walking and hiking. Most tours span 1 to 3 days, with some extending into multi-day alpine treks. We avoid motorized transport during the hiking experience, focusing instead on slow travel and meaningful connection with nature.
We encourage participants to arrive using public transportation, such as trains or local buses, which are both reliable and widely available in Switzerland. Starting points are carefully chosen to be accessible via public transit (e.g., SBB trains, PostAuto buses). We do not use private vehicles or shuttle vans, and we actively promote the use of Swiss Rail Passes to further minimize emissions.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
For overnight stays, we prioritize small, locally owned guesthouses or simple alpine huts often basic in infrastructure and with a low environmental footprint. Many use shared facilities, limit plastic use, and practice recycling. Some are off-grid or partially powered by solar energy. We intentionally avoid large hotels or luxury accommodations.
Before each trip, we share a short guide to help guests:
Stay on marked trails
Avoid loud noises or disturbing wildlife
Leave no trace, including food waste
Minimize plastic and bring reusable items
Respect local flora, especially fragile alpine flowers

LOCAL ECONOMYAll of our accommodations are 100% locally owned. We completely avoid hotel chains. When overnight stays are included, we select family-run guesthouses, traditional alpine huts, or even rustic barns with hay sleeping offering a truly authentic Swiss experience. Many of these are historic buildings, passed down through generations and managed by locals who live and work in the area.
A great example is staying in hay lofts on mountain farms, or spending the night in simple shelters used by shepherds during seasonal migrations (transhumance).
We collaborate directly with small mountain lift operators, local producers, and when needed regional alpine guides. Guests are encouraged to visit village cheese cellars, browse craft markets (such as in Disentis or Saanen), and buy directly from farmers, especially during events like Alpabzug or Alpaufzug.
We also support independent travel via regional rail and postbuses, helping to sustain local infrastructure and avoid reliance on large transport companies.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
All of our collaborators are based in Switzerland. When we require additional support whether its guides, drivers, or hosts we hire people from the exact regions where we operate, such as Graubόnden, Valais, or Central Switzerland. We do not outsource to non-local or non-Swiss agencies.
Though our project is still small, we actively seek to collaborate with women-led businesses (like farm stays or artisanal producers) and older farmers who preserve traditional methods.
We also offer free or discounted trips to low-income migrants and students in Switzerland, and occasionally organize inclusive community hikes where participation is based on interest, not income.
Our experiences are LGBTQ+ friendly and built around values of nature, connection, and respect. Everyone is welcome as long as they share those values.
