Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Walking experiences are an important part of this itinerary. In Lisbon and Porto, you explore historic neighborhoods on foot with local guides, discovering the cities without needing a vehicle during these activities. Private road transport is used for airport transfers, travel between Lisbon and Porto, and excursions to Sintra and the Douro Valley. We provide carefully selected dining recommendations that include vegetarian and vegan options alongside regional cuisine. When meals are included with an activity, plant-based alternatives are available, with dietary requirements communicated to our partners in advance.
Beyond this itinerary, our company supports Rewilding Portugal’s work to restore habitats and wildlife in the Greater Côa Valley. This support forms part of our wider commitment to conservation; a visit to a rewilding project is not included in this holiday.
We are also partners of TAP (Travelers Against Plastic). We encourage travelers to carry reusable water bottles and shopping bags and avoid unnecessary single-use plastics throughout their stay.
People
We work with locally owned, independent activity providers and guides, helping ensure that spending on this holiday benefits the communities you visit. In Lisbon, your private food and cultural walk includes tastings at six local establishments, supporting local businesses while introducing you to Portuguese culinary traditions. A separate walking experience with a local guide offers insight into the city’s history and everyday life.
Dinner in a Portuguese family’s home directly supports your hosts and creates an opportunity for cultural exchange. Over a homemade meal, you share stories and learn about daily life in Portugal.
Your private excursion to Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril supports a local guide, with a lunch stop at a local restaurant providing another opportunity to contribute to the regional economy.
In Porto, an architect leads your private architecture and World Heritage walk, sharing specialist knowledge of the city’s buildings and cultural heritage. Our recommendations for your independent time also encourage you to visit local restaurants, cafés, shops, and markets.
In the Douro Valley, a wine estate visit and tasting support regional producers and introduce you to the knowledge and traditions behind Portuguese winemaking. Free time in a traditional town gives you the opportunity to explore and choose a local restaurant for lunch.
