Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

CARBON REDUCTION

As a travel company we are acutely aware of our impact on the environment. All of our tours display a carbon footprint, and we strive to reduce our emissions by regularly reviewing our tours and embracing low-impact styles of travel such as trains, public buses or walking – which offer the added benefit of getting a closer connection with the destination and local community.

At the current time there is virtually no public transport in Namibia outside of the main towns and cities; however we have limited our group size to ten in order to use smaller less polluting vehicles.

Our local guides will pre-plan meals and food purchases locally before each trip and although we might not be able to cater for all dietary requirements we will be able to fulfil any vegetarian requirement using less carbon emissions and minimizes pollution.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE

We strive to support nature and biodiversity through protection and regeneration projects, and for every customer that travels with us we make a donation to Rewilding Britain and Cool Earth.

We encourage customers to avoid single-use plastic on tour, and our leaders give advice on refill points each day. Where tap water isn't safe to drink we recommend Water-to-Go bottles, a filtration bottle allowing you to drink water from any source.

We use local Namibian expert guides throughout this tour to ensure we are providing the absolute best authentic experience for our travellers.
The itinerary also includes an educational visit to the Cheetah Conservation Foundation at Otjiwarongo, one of the leading community-run big cat NGO's in Africa.

LOCAL ECONOMY

Our leaders are the heart of tours. They bring passion and unrivalled knowledge of the destinations and communities that we visit. Their guidance ensures we observe the cultural norms in a destination, they act as a bridge between travellers and the local community and ensure that tourism is a positive experience for both host and guest. We believe in supporting local; staying in locally-run hotels, exploring markets, buying snacks from street vendors, and by doing this we add money to the local economy and enhance our connection with the local community.

Where-ever possible we aim at using smaller locally owned accommodation, with the majority of them being 100% Namibian-owned benefitting the local community as well as providing employment for many people from nearby villages.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY

Our local partner currently operate with a 50/50 gender split across their operation and all of the tour guides working with our groups are either local born or raised within the region, with almost half of them.
Our partner is also a full member of TASA, the national Tour & Safari Association in Namibia guaranteeing a healthy and sustainable approach to not just tourism but also human welfare and social responsibility.
