Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONAll food on this trip is locally sourced and either vegetarian or vegan depending on your preference with the exception of fish from a local sustainable source. If you're not normally vegetarian I guarantee you will love Indonesian veggie food with a delicious variety freshly cooked each day. Hot water on our boat and on all accommodation on land is provided by solar heating systems and water recycling systems are in place in our accommodation in Labuan Bajo.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Komodo National park is a very well protected marine reserve and your park permits go towards helping to conserve this area which has some of the largest amounts of manta rays anywhere on earth. The income from visitors is the main way that this important marine bio diversity hot spot can be protected. Plastic use is kept to a minimum by asking guests to bring their own water bottles which you can fill from our large water containers on our boat and at the accommodation on land.
People
Our team of people both on our boat and on land are all local to this area creating several jobs and putting money into the local communities. These jobs are important as they mean the people here have a direct interest in protecting and conserving this area. On land we always only visit locally owned restaurants including a co-op in Labuan Bajo where all staff are women from the local community producing some amazing food. A couple of guests from my last trip thought their Sushi was the best they've ever tasted in the whole world and all their fish is freshly caught each day from sustainable fishing. Our visit to War Rebo village directly contributes to the people who live there and you'll see the genuine difference it makes to their lives. Our guide both at sea and on land is a young local man with incredible knowledge and we are contributing towards future training he wants to do in marine conservation.Popular similar holidays
