So many wonderful memories!! The most spectacular was the Perito Moreno Glacier which was jaw dropping! The journey as you cross the Andes mostly by boat is amazing with crystal clear lakes, high mountains and volcano`s and the Condor circling high above you. (more)Peter Carter

Memorable parts? Lots of memorable parts. We loved Iguazu, Purmamarca, The Atacama and Valparaiso. We enjoyed everything really apart from the Patios de Cafayate hotel where my husband picked up food poisoning so we were unable to explore Cafayate, he was too ill. Tips? The itinerary worked well for us. The self drive part from Salta to Purmamarca via Cafayate was great but take a map. Memorable parts? We did not do a 12 day highlights holiday. Instead we contacted the holiday provider direct and with them planned a 19 day trip. See below for views on this process. As far as memorable experiences, the list is endless. Perito Moreno glacier was amazing to see and hear - it really is blue in parts, and it was well worth paying extra to do the mini-trek. Memorable parts? Machu Picchu was definitely a major highlight, but upgrading to the Belmond in Iguazu was amazing and memorable. Tips? Definitely give yourself some down time at the end because the first week was very busy. Also picking/upgrading our hotels proved to be worth the effort- loved every one! Local benefits? Memorable parts? Visiting Iguazú falls - it’s stunningly beautiful. Tips? It’s well worth visiting both sides of the falls to see it’s whole magnificence. We added Paraty and Ilha Grande in Brazil to the itinerary, which were great (although note that it’s a 4.5hr drive from Rio to Paraty). Local benefits? Yes. Memorable parts? Truly the most memorable part of our holiday was crossing the Strait of Magellan and entering Tierra del Fuego, a place I had long dreamed about seeing. But really, all of it was great! You can't go wrong with such amazing scenery. And the people were so friendly! We made lots of friends along the way. Tips? Memorable parts? So many highlights: tango in Buenos Aires, the unforgettable Iguazu Falls; but for me Patagonia and particularly the Perito Merino glacier was the outstanding memory of the trip. Nature in raw, exquisite and awe-inspiring beauty: simply stunning. Tips? You do need to pack for different weather conditions but even so do try to pack lightly so you still have space for all the things you will want to buy whilst you are there. Memorable parts? The diversity of the landscapes and climates and awe inspiring scenery. It was nice to have a local guide in each area. Tips? We extended the trip to have 3 nights in each location (so 17 days in total). This was a great pace as with all the travelling I think it would be exhausting and overwhelming if we had stuck to the original schedule. Memorable parts? Walking on our own in the Ushuaia national park Tips? Try to go on tours on your own rather than the organised ones. I don't know the flight schedules but it was a shame that almost always when we flew we were unable to do anything else. The exception was El Calafate where we were able to spend the afternoon in the excellent bird reserve - which our tour organiser hadn't mentioned to us. Local benefits?
