What to expect from our Botswana honeymoons
1. Extraordinary wildlife in the company of experts
Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but they also never disappoint – especially in Botswana. You might not lay eyes on that leopard you had your heart set on, but you might see a pack of wild dogs on the hunt, dozens of elephants, and a hippo-buffalo stand-off instead. And there’s nothing quite like catching an episode of lion pride relationship politics; after all, the course of feline love never did run smooth.
That said, some things can be shaped by the Botswanan guides, who – let’s not beat around the bush – are some of the top wildlife experts in the world. 3. Fly-in safaris for an unforgettable arrival
The Okavango Delta is a labyrinth of waterways, islands and reeds. Roads don’t reach most camps, so they have their own airstrips – which means a VIP arrival for honeymooners. The small propellor planes are by no means luxurious, but travelling in them feels very much a like a luxury thanks to the views they afford – of wild dog packs racing across the savannah, their shadows stretched by the setting sun, or of vast salt pans tinted pink with flocks of flamingos. If the pilot spots something interesting, they’ll take a quick detour for a look.
