The journey to the Field House is a long but beautiful one. The Field House is basic, rustic but very comfortable and surrounded by amazing scenery.

Staying in Ratmate village and participating in house building was certainly memorable - whilst this was such a happy and welcoming community, it was both shocking and humbling to see first-hand the scale of earthquake damage in the region and the difficulties they face in re-establishing a good standard of accommodation there. My most memorable activity was actually my first where I returned a greeting to a baboon as indicated by the guides, I later had to endure a grooming from one of the baboons. The most exciting part was heading to the Big Daddy sand dune in Sossusvlei. Kind of what I always imagined an adventure to be.

I think we will all remember watching the cubs not so gently nursing with their mom; "bread bear" running out at feeding time to stealthily take a loaf of bread
and scurry back into the bushes while other bears happily ate the other food together; the mucky, fun mess of making bear ice cream; just watching the bears be bears.
