Volunteering in Europe highlights

Volunteering with animals in Europe

Europe’s wonderful wildlife needs your help. With our animal volunteering projects you get to spend time in their fantastic habitats – beaches where turtles lay their eggs, forests where bears and wolves roam, and whale and dolphin-filled seas. Go whale watching with purpose – help log sightings, identify individuals and pass your findings and your photographs on to conservationists who can use your findings to help ensure their ongoing protection, or help monitor Portugal’s wolves. Many projects actively need lots of new faces and helpers so that the animals in their charge don’t become attached and stay wild.

Family volunteering holidays in Europe

Imagine sleeping on the beach and waking up with the moonlight to watch hundreds of turtle hatchlings making their way towards the sea in Greece. Some of our volunteering projects are particularly well-suited to families. They involve cute animals, great locations and plenty of downtime so you can participate in beach cleans – and then enjoy a lovely clean beach afterwards. Or spend a morning monitoring wildlife in the harbour and the afternoon exploring the island. Alternatively, children aged ten and up will relish the idea of helping Romania’s rescued bears by feeding and monitoring them, with free time to spend in the beautiful Carpathian Mountains too.

Definitely go! It supported conservation as the bears are living in the forest & fed on waste food from supermarkets. Seeing happy bears after being rescued from ghastly circumstances 10/10. read more
