Planet – Carbon reduction

The itineraries we create are guided by three aims: looking after the places we visit, supporting local communities and helping our guests travel responsibly. To do this, we work with a boutique team on the ground who have been running responsible trips since 1994 and share our values.

Most activities are on foot, such as walking tours and hikes. Excursions run in small groups, which means fewer vehicles on the road and less pressure on busy sites.

Planet – Environment and wildlife

Visits to Bernardo O'Higgins National Park, Torres del Paine and Cueva del Milodón include entry fees, which help fund the running of these protected areas. Throughout the trip, local guides explain the landscapes and wildlife you're seeing and share practical tips on how to reduce your impact while you're there.

We choose small, locally owned accommodation wherever possible, including Ayca La Flora, Weskar Lodge, Hotel Lago Grey and Casa Don Tomás. Hotel Lago Grey cooks with locally sourced ingredients, and Casa Don Tomás is built from traditional adobe.

People

People – Local economy

We choose every experience with care, so you meet local people and places in a genuine way. In the Atacama, the itinerary includes visits to traditional community-based settlements, and you'll visit family-owned wineries rather than large commercial operations. Staying in small, locally owned accommodation means your money supports local jobs.

People – Employment, inclusivity and diversity

People are at the heart of everything we do. Every year, our local partners train guides in safety, service, local knowledge and responsible travel. Each transfer and excursion includes local guides, which means employment for residents and storytelling rooted in Chilean culture, from Santiago and Valparaíso to San Pedro de Atacama.
