There were so many highlights but the two most memorable parts of the holiday were climbing the beautiful Villarrica volcano and spending 4 days in the breathtaking wilderness of the Torres del Paine National Park. Beautiful Island. Doesn't take too long to see the major sites, but it's a very pleasant atmosphere. The restaurants are mostly fairly informal, but serve great food (the ceviche makes the trip worthwhile)

Local Rapa Nui acted as a guide. She was obviously very concerned with protecting the monuments and treating them with respect.

Trekking with the most amazing mountain backdrop for several days, in Torres del Paine, culminating in the climb up to Las Torres themselves; there just aren't the words to do this place justice.
Tips?
Do some walking beforehand, if you want to get the most from it. Also, don't forget a camera, or you will be truly sorry!

So many! The most spectacular was the Perito Moreno Glacier which was jaw dropping! The journey as you cross the Andes mostly by boat is amazing with crystal clear lakes, high mountains and volcano`s and the Condor circling high above you.
Tips?
Expect to be staggered by the scenery and expect some long distances between places especially to Torres del Paine National Park which took hours to drive to plus long hold ups between Argentina and Chile but it was so worth... (more)Peter Carter

Tips?
Be prepared for the effects of altitude. We didn't get altitude sickness but suffered from tiredness, headaches and shortness of breath, especially when walking up hills. You need to give yourself longer to do things requiring physical effort.

We decided ro skip Valparaiso but added an additionsl day in Torres del Paine, which I thought was worthwhile as it allowed us 3 full days in Torres del Paine .
