Zero-Emission Electric Transport: Group transfers between Seville (airport/train station) and the rural village of Alájar on Day 1 and Day 6 are provided in our own 100% electric vehicle. The vehicle is charged directly at the guest house using solar power generated by our on-site photovoltaic panels, creating a truly zero-emission transfer solution.

Accommodation Renewable Energy: Our traditional guest house is a certified eco-hotel (European Ecolabel) operating fully on clean energy. Heating, cooling, and hot water are powered by an advanced geothermal system combined with solar energy, completely eliminating the need for fossil fuels on-site.

Human-Powered Transport: Active, human-powered exploration is a core component of this itinerary. Guests participate in a 3-to-4-hour guided walking tour of the rural river trails on Day 2, and are encouraged to explore the village of Alájar on foot throughout their stay.

Vegetarian & Local Food Sourcing: Home-cooked evening meals served at our eco-guest house showcase organic, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Vegetarian, vegan, and pescatarian options are fully integrated into every menu. Ingredients are purchased directly from local producers and small-scale farmers, dramatically cutting food miles and carbon emissions associated with long-distance food transport.

Environmental Policies & Water Conservation: Our eco-guest house adheres to strict environmental standards, including rainwater collection systems, low-flow water fixtures, zero single-use plastics, and non-toxic cleaning products. The property features a natural saltwater swimming pool, eliminating harsh chemical runoff into the local ecosystem.

Nature Restoration & Biodiversity: Set within the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park (a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve), the hotel grounds are managed to protect and restore native Mediterranean flora and fauna. Native planting supports local pollinators, bird life, and insect populations, helping maintain regional biodiversity.

Local Expert Nature Guides: Your orientation walk along the river trails is guided by your host, Ángel, an experienced local resident with extensive knowledge of the region's unique flora, fauna, and ecology, ensuring low-impact learning and deep appreciation for the protected natural park.

Guests visit small-scale producers right in the village—such as María Jesús's certified organic goat's cheese farm—and are encouraged to shop at local village stores and dine at family-run tapas bars for lunches.

Local Employment: 100% of our small workforce is based in the immediate local area, including our housekeeper who was born and raised directly in the village of Alájar. All staff and collaborators are paid well above the national minimum wage.
