Language holidays

Our language holidays are a means not only of learning the local lingo, but also learning about the destination you are visiting, as well as its culture. And a big part of that is your tutors, who may also serve as guides. They’ll help you nail your vocab, and also introduce you to their neighbour with an interesting herb garden, or give you a crash course in regional cuisine. You’ll pick up much more of the language, and a lot of other useful knowledge, than you ever will sitting behind a desk all day, or studying alone at home.

Depending on the trip you book, you can also combine your language lessons with a host of other activities. Walking, cooking, horse riding, yoga, photography, even salsa – all wonderfully conducive to talking. Guides and instructors will know that you want to improve your language skills, and can tailor their conversation to suit.

Language holidays have advanced a long way. While there will be classroom time, this is by no means the sum total of your trip. Instead, our immersive language courses find just as much if not more value in practising language outside of the classroom. You might have a couple of hours in the morning with your group, trying out conversational gambits on each other or brushing up on your grammar.

But in the afternoon you could be using your knowledge in the real world, chatting with stallholders in farmers’ markets about their produce, finding out the names of animals from your guide on a mountain hike, or talking to your instructor about the best places to eat in town, as they show you the basics of the tango. You may be surprised how much your abilities can develop in a short space of time with one of our language holidays.
