The kayaking trip around Lake Skadar was beautiful and due to tandem kayaks, hilarious! (more)Hayley New
This was a fantastic holiday with many memorable moments! We loved the beautiful scenery; the walking, wild swimming and kayaking. It was wonderful to be somewhere so peaceful and so stunningly beautiful and to be able to experience the country with such dedicated and enthusiastic people. (more)Esther Ankcorn
Being in an amazing part of the world, with a group of like-minded people, hiking through woods, wild water swimming, swimming in a waterfall, visiting an island monastery. My son and daughter both loved the off-road trip with the land rover, jumping from a village bridge into a river, seeing Golden Orioles and Hoopooes was another highlight. (more)Kyra De Coninck

the locale was wonderful - very peaceful and a beautiful peek into a different way of life. (more)Ilana Trachtenberg
The peace and tranquillity of this beautiful valley was stunning. All the staff and guides - particularly Gabo - were friendly and knowledgeable, and did their utmost to make us feel comfortable and at home. Just fantastic, we would like to return to appreciate this special place at another time of year, probably spring or autumn. (more)Clio Whittaker
It was the perfect 'get away from it all' trip where you really felt like you were stepping back in time. The location, nature and wildlife were stunning and I particularly enjoyed meeting many different people staying at both the guesthouses. (more)Melanie Johnson

Bhutan was amazing. We loved the culture, the slow pace and Tigers Nest was the highlight, we loved the hotels, the food and the tour was superb. Our agent in Kathmandu, and our tour operator was excellent. (more)Alan Levy
Tiger's Nest Monastery .. it was the place I was most looking forward to visiting, and was every bit as good as I hoped. However, all of Bhutan was magical .. it's a such a remarkable, pristine country, comparatively untouched by mass tourism. From the moment of landing in Paro valley (it felt like the wings of the plane almost clipped the mountains!) it was an amazing experience. (more)Julia Sahin
Flying into Bhutan over the Himalayas and then the sharp right to get down into the narrow valley to line up with the runway. Exciting, definitely! I loved the greenery, the steep valleys and sometimes roaring rivers. (more)Basia Filzek

Going over the sand dunes and staying in gers or in tents in what seemed to be in the middle of nowhere and then a herd of goats and sheep comes along. (more)Josephine Tanti
Climbing the 'Singing Sand Dunes' (Khongoryn Els) at sunset was amazing! It was a big effort to make it to the top, but we were rewarded with once-in-a lifetime views over the vast sand dunes and Gobi Desert while mother nature turned on a spectacular pink and purple hue. (more)Lynette Smith
The space and serenity of Mongolia. And watching sunrise and sunset caily in front of your eyes. (more)Kat Kassim

Memorable parts? There were many great moments. Our group seemed to gel very well, and the Russian team were terrific (although admittedly we had to get the first guide removed after day 3). I loved the rafting section, close to the bears and so peaceful. Shame about the rain. The lunar base camp and Dead Forest were extraordinary. Weather precluded a trip to the Valley of the Geysers, instead we helicoptered to Kuril Lake: what a day! The pilot descended into a volcano crater on the return... (more)Alastair Giddings

Memorable parts? The doable yet challenging (for me) walks combined with cultural learning. Experiencing the remote villages, lifestyle and food in local accommodation. Sharing it with two terrific guides and a small group of companionable people. Tips? Pack light, take a hat and a good pair of boots and be prepared to soak up a the traditional culture and the magnificent vistas Romania has to offer. Local benefits? I would like to think it did via the local accommodation... (more)Helen Wildash

Memorable parts? The visit to Meroe. Mind blowing! The pyramids in the daytime WOW, but even better at sundown. A very big shame that there were no G&T`s to go with the atmospheric feeling of history. When you stay in tent city, it`s fantastic with the night sky and no light pollution. Eating and sleeping, with the stars, all around you, then you have arrived in paradise. If you are lucky to go on this trip and have Kahlid as your guide, then you are in for a treat. If you think the desert... Memorable parts? The Roman ruins of Algeria are always a highlight, even more when one is blessed with a very good Guide as we had. Algiers is very beautiful, as far as I know the only Art Nouveau town, beautiful, despite the decay and rainy weather. Tips? Brace yourself for long drives (mainly from the desert onwards) and the nuisance of local security, which is not really intended to our security, as they often forget their own relay... Local benefits? Local people did... (more)maria camilo

Memorable parts? The visit to the battlefield of 331BC Guagemela where Alexander the Great defeated Darius III was particularly good because of the excellent talk on the history and strategy employed. However the scenery in the mountains, the Kurdish people and the many historic and cultural site were all interesting and memorable. Tips? The more you have read about the area first the more I think you get from the trip. Be prepared to be flexible and enjoy it as it comes. Local... (more)Jenny Maddick

Memorable parts? Iran the country - the people, the bustle, the food, the antiquities - it was a revelation; can't wait to go again ! Tips? Memorable parts? Seeing all the beautiful wildflowers. May was a wonderful time of year to be there. Also the very warm welcome we received from local people in the smaller villages. Tips? You need to be aware that the trekking company in Bulgaria promotes the opportunity for solo travellers to save costs by travelling with a couple who've already booked. As you are mainly staying in very small places if someone else books the same dates you are likely to end up spending every evening... (more)Ruth Bradshaw

Memorable parts? The entire trip was both memorable and exciting! Azerbaijan is a beautiful country and has a rich culture, I loved the capital city of Baku a cosmopolitan, vibrant place, where the old historic monuments sit alongside new modern landmarks. The genuine openness of the local people was clear to see who were more than happy to help with directions or places to see in the city. The other locations on route had picturesque scenery and showed an insight into everyday Azeri life... (more)Abs Ahmed

Memorable parts? Fascinating to visit many local tribes & see & hear about their varied customs & beliefs - an anthropologists dream. Most memorable for me were informal visits to villages & meeting the lovely welcoming people. Tips? Probably not the best trip for a first time visitor to Africa. Practise your French. Take eye drops to help with the heat & dust! Local benefits? Definitely a benefit to local people - the number of tourists has dropped due to the problems... (more)Joan Godman
