Description of Romania holiday, Discover Romania
On this holiday to Romania, the villages out-shout the cities. A knowledgeable local guide will take you to places like Viscri, which was rescued by the Mihai Eminescu Trust, an NGO busy restoring rare Saxon villages hand-in-hand with the community that lives in them. Your visit will support small-scale farmers, B&B bakeries and house weavers, all while helping to preserve villagers’ medieval houses and fortified-to-the nines churches. You’ll also find painted monasteries in the countryside – known for Byzantine wraparound murals.
Brasov and Bucharest offer a different view of Romania. But Sighisoara is the real surprise – it’s one of the best preserved citadels in Europe and a lived-in medieval city.
Fancy spending an extra day or two in the countryside or exploring Brasov and its vampiric castle? This holiday to Romania is tailor made, so you can take the itinerary with a pinch of salt. The holiday company will be happy to tweak the trip to your likes, while lending you their expertise on what – and what not – to do.

Reviewed on 03 Aug 2019 by Colin BingleIt is hard to pick out one particular highlight. The whole experience was amazing. Much of the scenery is pristine. The rural areas are a step back in time. Our hosts were unbelievably welcoming, even if we did not share a common language....we had milk fresh from the cow and food fresh from the garden. We even hand milked a cow. The wooden churches and painted monasteries are beautiful. Read full review

PlanetWe are committed to playing our part through caring for the places and communities that we visit. We will continue to work with our suppliers to deliver a responsible product and quality performance.
We will contribute 5 euros per customer to Conservation Carpathia a community project in Romania. The company has been instrumental in forming the `Ecological Association for Tourism in Romania. We are aware of the need to safeguard the best environmental practice in Romania including the ancient practice of periodically moving sheepfolds in the mountains. We are also aware of the threat to wildlife - that too many visitors can be a problem - our guides advise travellers how to respect fauna and flora.
PeopleWe are committed to working for a better community for all, in particular in the areas visited by our customers. We are leaders in developing tourism in remote areas of Romania, bringing a source of income through a steady flow of responsible tourists. It is important to balance the impact of visitors with the effect on local communities and we strive to do this in a responsible way.
Good relationships have been established with a range of local supplier ranging from those providing accommodation to artisans making products with historical significance.
