Requirements for appearing in specific sections

When you upload trips to the Responsible Travel website your account manager is responsible for tagging your trip page before it goes live. This ensures your trip page appears in all the relevant sections on the website so customers can find it.

Some tags have certain criteria that must be met for your trip to qualify, particularly those that link to our values and highlight notable responsible tourism practices. Please let your partnership manager know if you think your trips can be tagged in these sections.

Family

Family: For trips to be tagged in the ‘family’ section they must include a child price and include the minimum age for children.

Single parent: Organised tours that take the hard work out of a holiday and are particularly suited to single parent families. This section is for family trips where there is no additional supplement for single rooms or different room configurations.

Under 5 toddler friendly: Holidays that are suitable for families with very young children. Toddler friendly measures are in place such as pool and stair gates, available highchair, cot, steriliser, a secure garden, shops nearby, safe roads for pushing a buggy along and so on.

Families with teenagers: Organised tours that bring together families with older children, must specify a minimum age. Can also include private trips that are particularly suited to families with teenagers.

Values

Flight Free (from the UK): For holidays that can be reached without flying from the UK, reducing carbon emissions. UK based members must be able to book overland travel to and from destination, i.e by train. Travel bookings must be bonded. Non UK members must be able to advise and assist customers in detail to plan their route.

Low Carbon: Trips that go the extra length to reduce the carbon footprint of the holiday, which must be demonstrated in at least two aspects of the trip. The first must be a flight free method of reaching the holiday destination. The second must be a strong example of reducing carbon, such as whether travellers eat/drink locally grown and seasonally produced food, how travellers get around in the destination or if accommodations use renewable energy and/or have stand out waste schemes in place.

Rewilding: Holidays that help support efforts to renew, rejuvenate and rewild precious habitats and ecosystems with the aim to attract native wildlife back in greater numbers. On the forefront of conservation, these holidays could explore how species are being reintroduced to landscapes or strengthen their presence by habitat restoration or rewilding.

No single use plastic: A holiday where the customer does not encounter single use plastic in either: the rooms in the accommodation, the transport (mini bus or boat etc) nor any restaurants or organised activities that are part of the itinerary.

Slow Travel: This section showcases trips which embrace slow travel in all its glory - it could be the food, the transport or simply the pace of the trip itself. We are looking for trips where the journey may be as much a part of the holiday as the rest of it; where exploration of your chosen destination is slow and selective - be it by kayak, foot, sail or pedal power and food is locally grown with the environment in mind.

Women only: Group holidays specifically for female travellers.

Women owned locally run: Trips from local member’s that are owned and run by women.

LGBTQIA+: While all the holidays on our site welcome LGBTQIA travellers, the trips featured in this section are doing all that they can to make travel as accessible and welcoming as possible. As a member you promote inclusivity on all your trips and across your business and are committed to ensuring travellers face no discrimination on any part of the trip you control.

Travel Agent section

Travel agent main section and sub activities: If you want to have your trips in this section please contact your account manager. Just to confirm the details below as we keep this as simple as possible for the travel agents;
We are only promoting trips where the operator is able to pay 15% commission. 10% to the travel agent and 5% to Responsible Travel.
All dates must be able to be bought by a travel agent, not for example, only the low season dates.
Prices are not to be increased to cover the commission, the price on the page is what the travel agent will pay.
Do not increase the prices on the page to enable you to go into the travel agent section, there will be far more customers looking at your pages rather than travel agents.
The travel agent will pay you directly, it's up to you to stipulate the terms and conditions.
