Vegan holidays & tours

Eating vegan food on holiday is a perfect example of responsible tourism, taking into account animal welfare, and massively reducing your trip’s carbon footprint – especially as a lot of plant-based cuisine tends to also be seasonal, organic and locally sourced.

If you’re heading somewhere a little off the beaten track, research is key, whether that’s checking for shops or markets near your hotel where you can buy fresh fruit and snacks, or learning about typical dishes that could easily be made vegan with a friendly word in the chef’s ear. For complete confidence, opt for one of our vegan-only holidays, where all the essential questions have already been asked and answered, and you need have no concerns about what ingredients are being used in your meal.

Highlights of our holidays that offer vegan food

Vegan options always available

…and when we say vegan options, we don’t mean chips and salad. Although our holidays are not always designed expressly with vegan travellers in mind, we’re very conscious that many people do follow a plant-based diet when they’re abroad, and that they expect a good meal. We have over 1,500 holidays where you can be sure of getting a delicious, high quality vegan dish at every meal. In many destinations, catering to vegan travellers is standard. In others, we will need a little more notice to ensure that you can travel in confidence, so please do advise us of your preferences when making your enquiry.

Some countries are easier than others

Countries that make vegan travel a breeze include Ethiopia, where half of the population is Orthodox Christian and abstain from animal products for much of the year. Germany is forward-thinking on ethical consumerism and flexible diets, and it may surprise you that Australia, home of the barbie, is also great for plant-based cuisine, with quite a health-conscious population.

Not every country does vegan cuisine well yet. In some places, even the concept of veganism still isn’t well understood. While you may not be sitting down to a feast every night, on our holidays we make the necessary arrangements to ensure you can be confident of a filling, nutritious meal.

Vegan-only holidays

On our vegan-only holidays every meal you enjoy from start to finish is entirely vegan-friendly, and all eating establishments, from restaurants to hotels to roadside stalls, are screened thoroughly to ensure that. In most cases these trips will be small group tours, led by guides who are themselves vegan. When you’re travelling in countries where there is a language barrier, or if you’re new to travelling as a vegan, having that confidence in what you’re eating is invaluable. While it’s plant-based cuisine all the way on our vegan-only tours, if you’re only partly vegan yourself, or simply travelling with a vegan and happy to go with the flow for a week or two, you’ll still be very welcome.
